We're wondering if our kids sleep too much (or are in bed too much.) Tonight it was 10pm and Bryan was still awake in bed "reading" his books! They've always gone down at 8pm for bed, and typically are asleep w/in the half hour. They get up sometime between 7-8, then I put them down at 2 for a nap. Recently, Joel hasn't been napping well at all, but Bryan will end up still being asleep well past 5, we even have to go wake him up at times. But with Joel not napping, and then with Bryan still awake late tonight, I'm wondering if our schedule needs tinkering with.

Mine go to bed around 9 or 9:30pm, and wake up at 8am. Then, they nap from about 3 to 5:30pm every day, give or take a half hour on either end.

Ok, i'll publicly admit it--i've pretty much been in denial for the past few weeks, but mine are on a fritzy version of their old sleep schedule from 2 months ago.

bedtime 8-8:30 up at 6:30-7, nap from 1 to 3 pm. that WAS their schedule. now naptime is really volatile, and when it does happen has moved to 2:30/3-4 pm ish. bedtime is 8:30-9 ish and wake up is still 6:30-7 am. if they don't nap, they are sleeping from 7 pm to 6:30 or 7 a.m.

i'm really hating the no nap thing....

My two year old is starting to give up the nap. The twins were about the same age when they did. He goes to bed about 7:30-8 PM and sleeps until 7AM. If he naps, it's falling asleep later in the day at around 4 or 5, which pushes bedtime back to 9 or later (which I don't want).

My two are 7-7 sleepers and 1-3 for naps. Easy!!

Mine go into their cribs at 730pm. They usually talk, read, sing, etc for about a half hour ... then they wake between 6 and 7am ... at daycare they nap from 1-3pm (on average) ... on the weekends they suck at napping for me, but we try the same schedule.

I think they are trying to not nap, but they are HORRENDOUS if they don't ... it really ruins the entire rest of the day.

We had to give up naps to make bedtime easier. I really hated to do it, but when they go to sleep at 10pm they still wake at 8, so they weren't getting enough sleep. Without naps they go to bed between 7:30 and 8pm, and wake up around 8am. We do quiet time though in the late afternoon while I'm making dinner to make the evenings go more smoothly (I put on the TV and bring out pillows and a sleeping bag and they have 'slumber party'). They still do take naps some days when they are really tired (they actually ASK to go take a nap), but that is rare (maybe one day a week). GL figuring it all out.

    Bedtime 8pm
    Wake up 7pm
Naps 1pm and I don't let them sleep past 3:30pm or they will not go to bed at night. Every now and then I have to wake up DD. However, the other day she wouldn't nap at all. ;) DS usually only takes an hour and half nap.

At 2 years old my two would sleep from 7:30 pm - 7/7:30am and nap from 12:30-3:00pm.

we've been having a rough time here. this is their schedule:

    up anywhere from 6-7am
    nap: 12:30-3:15
    bedtime: 7:30pm

    what they are doing...
    up anywhere from 6-7am
nap: whenever they fall asleep in this timeframe. i dont' let them sleep more than 2 hours, and no later than 3:15 no matter WHAT time they fell asleep.

bedtime: they hang out, rip off clothes, play till about 9:30. it hasn't been fun  (they're still in cribs)

At 2.5, my girls fall asleep between 7pm - 7:30pm and wake up between 7am - 7:30pm. They nap from 12 - 2:30. Lately they've been fighting naps on the weekends and telling me every few nights that they don't want to go to sleep, but in general I have good sleepers. (yes, I have just now jinxed myself)

Bedtime is usually between 7:30 and 8, they usually wake up around 6:30-7. They take a 2-3 hour nap right after lunch.

Right now I'm totally regretting letting them take their new "doctor kits" to bed with them tonight because it's after 8:30 and they are still awake playing with them! :fool:

Mine sleep about 7:30 pm - 7:30 am. Naptime is 2:30. Andrew only naps occasionally, but I always put him down for "quiet time" and get him up after ~45 min. Ivy OTOH naps 2-3 hrs, gets up, has dinner, plays a bit, and happily goes back to bed in the evening.

    Bedtime: 7 pm
    Wake-Up: 7 am

Naps: start between 1:30-2:00, lasting for 60-90 minutes

We just moved from a 12:30 nap in the past week, and it's making life much easier for all of us!

It was around that age that one or both of them started staying awake really late on occasional random nights. It was always a little unsettling to hear someone still chatting quietly to herself or turning pages at 9:30 p.m., but I tried not to worry about it and just be grateful that she wasn't bugging me. ;)

They napped about 1.5 hours at daycare (roughly 12:30-2:00) and around 1:00-3:30 or even 4:00 at home (I think that was the era of Very Long Naps -- they stayed Very Long until just after age 3). They woke around 6:30 or 7 and went to bed, theoretically, around 7:00-7:30, though it took them at least an hour to fall asleep most nights. We probably could have been putting them to bed later, but we wanted the adult time, and as long as they were happy to hang out in bed and talk, we figured it was a win-win.

mine were doing 7 pm- 7am with nap from noon til 3 but, here in the past week it's been different.
They've started waking anywhere between 5:30-6:30 am even though we are still putting them to bed at 7 pm.
Naps are usually around 1pm and can last about an hour to an hour and a half. They seem to act like they are wanting to drop the nap but, if they don't take one they are horrible to be around by the afternoon!!

12 hours a night and 2 hour naps at that age. I wouldn't let mine sleep past 4 or they would have a hard time going to bed at night.

Well alright- looks like everyone's fairly similar! Guess I won't change anything, and hope that at some point Joel decides he wants to sleep again during naptime.
