At our one year check up we were given the ok to switch to whole milk because the girls weigh enough. So I know they will eat more "real" food now. So how do you all work out meals? Do you give milk with meals or every few hours? We're also working on sippy cups (slowly... ugh). I went shopping today and bought a bunch of frozen veggies, fruit, snacks, etc. So now I need to figure out what to do with it lol... Also, do you do only finger foods so they can feed themselves or do you feed them the majority of the time? If anybody has maybe a sample of what your babies eat during the day for meals that would be great! Thanks...

We're still on high calorie formula (ending this month, I think), but this here's what we've had (will have) for meals today. The girls are on nearly all table food now. I only spoon feed things like applesauce and yogurt.

    6:30 bottle - formula
7:30 breakfast - scrambled eggs, toast pieces, sippy of milk
    10:30 formula
11:30 lunch - grilled cheese, yogurt (I spoon fed them this), fruit cocktail, sippy of milk
    3:00 formula
5:00 supper - pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes, apple sauce (I'll spoon feed this), sippy of milk
    6:30 formula

Our day goes like this so far:
    7:30-6-8oz of milk
8:00- oatmeal or some kind of cereal
11- this varies but today they had: 2 waffles, peas, dole sliced fruit with syrup drained out
2:00- 6-8oz milk with carnation instant breakfast (we have to get their weight up)
5:00-steamfresh green beans, chicken pieces, fries, dole sliced fruit no syrup, yogurt
7:30-usually a 6-8 oz bottle of milk before bed depending on how hungry they are

We've given them scrambled eggs, pork, beef, peas, corn, applesauce, bananas, toast, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pasta, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cut up plain pizza, cheerios, just about anything besides shellfish.

Mine are on all table food too. The only thing I spoon feed like PP is appleasauce, yogurt, and mashed potatoes. We're working with our utensils.

Our typical day is along these lines:

7am - milk sippy & graham cracker (while I make my coffee and get their diapers etc)
8am - breakfast (pancakes with banana slices) + milk sippy
1030- snack (yogurt & cheese, kix)
1200 - lunch (chicken, vegetable , pasta) + milk sippy
    330- snack (applesauce & cheerios)
530- dinner (whatever we are having, tonight its tacos so I will give them all the components individually. A little flour tortilla, black olives, chicken, cheese etc) + milk sippy
    7pm - milk sippy/nursing before Bed.

I also fill up a water cup at the start of every day and make the water available all day long. I aim to give milk 3-4x a day. I also try to give a fruit or vegetable at every meal.
they do almost all the feeding. We are even working with utensils. I just give them at every meal and then "demonstrate" how to use them while I sit and eat with them. I feed them the goopy messsing things, but they are little individualist :)

My girls eat just about everything. Here is what our day looks like and has been the same since shortly after a year:

    Get up and nurse
730 breakfast with water (this morning they had french toast, apples and cantaloupe)
1100 lunch with milk, then nap (they had shredded ham, cheese, and mixed veggies)
230 snack with milk (nutrigrain bar and raisins)
500 dinner with milk (roast chicken, peas, broccoli bites, blueberries, and teddy grahams for 'dessert')
    630 milk then bed

They get about 12-18oz of whole milk a day, and they have sippies with water all day.
They eat all finger foods except for stuff like yogurt, applesauce, etc. We have not tried utensils yet and I am in NO hurry for that mess!

Thanks for all the replies. It's neat to see how different everyone does things. I guess there's basically no "right" way to go about it as long as they are getting all the nutrients they need and not starving, right? Poor Hannah is not a fan of milk right now... We're working on it.

Max has started to go off milk but am not worred as he eats everything and wouldn't stop unless I did! We do this:

    6.30sh milk
7.00 b/fast - porridge with fruit, toast, bananas
11.00 lunch - any main meal mashed up ( I spoon feed this) then fruit/yoghurt/bread
2.30 milk and snack cheese on toast, cheerios, fruit, baby biscuits
5.30 dinner - again any meal mashed up / fruit/cheese bits, etc
    7.00 milk and bed

I feed them any meal we have and mash it up and spoon feed it to them - everything else they finger feed. I usually give one meat meal - usually chicken/turkey/pork - not much red meat - and then one dinner that is veggie based - veg pasta/ cheesy veggies, etc. Sometimes I give them a snack at around 10 if I know their lunch will be late.

We have the go-ahead for everything but shellfish (my brother is allergic, so we are waiting until 2 or 3). My practice is to give them anything and everything. Occasionally I will feed them - yogurt, applesauce, etc., but generally, I let them feed themselves everything. Even yogurt and applesauce are great on an English muffin torn up so they can feed themselves. Sometimes I put a plate on their tray (we got some suction cup ones) and let them practice with a spoon/safety fork, but usually it's just finger foods. We do milk/water/diluted juice (mostly milk now as we are switching from formula) at mealtimes. Mine have been eating table foods since 9 months and haven't had baby food in a couple months, so they are really good at biting and mashing food, so I make the chunks bigger - still wouldn't give them a big chunk of hot dog or anything, but crackers and things that are easily broken up.

Breakfast - pancakes, waffles (plain or with blueberries, etc.), english muffins, bagels, cereal, french toast, toast, eggs, sausage (I try to get healthy kinds), fruit (bananas, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, oranges, kiwis, pears, apples, mangoes, pineapple, guava, melons, etc.)

Lunch/dinner/snacks - cheese (Kraft crumbles are perfect for little fingers and easy!), grilled cheese, quesadillas, lunch meat (look for lower salt varieties), veggies (peas, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, avocado, lima beans, corn, etc.), beans (black, pinto, etc.), crackers (mini Ritz, oyster), pasta (cooked elbow macaroni and other easy to pick up pasta), mashed potatoes (let them eat it with their hands!), ground meat (beef, turkey, chicken), chicken or turkey nuggets (usually buy an organic, baked variety), fish sticks, fruit (varieties above), some of the Earth's best or Gerber type "cookies".

We like to go out to lunch sometimes and have them try things. Most restaurants have good options and it gets them more variety and more used to eating out - Chick-fil-A (nuggets and fruit cups), Noodles and Co. (they'll make the buttered noodles with elbow macaroni, with or without seasoning, and chicken breasts - you can get milk boxes), Chipotle (they'll make quesadillas or give you a side of black beans or we've done soft tacos with beans, rice, cheese, and tomato salsa (watch for jalepenos!)), etc. You can usually find something appropriate. We've done Indian, Mexican, Italian, etc.

We did some of the Gerber things, but they really aren't great - I like the pasta pick ups, and we used to get the fruit chunks, but it's cheaper to just get the regular Dole ones. The little dried fruits are a hit, and the little cheese crunchy things.

There's probably more, but I'm having trouble remembering. I shoot for one carb, one protein/dairy, and one fruit/veggie per "meal".

    Here is what we eat:

    7am - sippy of milk

8am - breakfast (waffles, pancakes, toast or oatmeal usually with some yogurt)

12pm - lunch (usually a jar stage 3 meal, some veggies and a cut up banana)

2pm - snack (usually graham crackers with apple sauce or something along those lines)

5pm - dinner (we use this meal to experiment with new foods but they like grilled cheese, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, cut up canned fruit, peas, cut up green beans, pasta, little pieces of chicken)

    6pm - sippy of milk
