my girls have their last bottle at 8:30-ish. it's gotten kinda later since the days are getting longer. they fall asleep around 9-ish. DH feeds them at this time, so he lets them fall asleep in the bouncy seats, adn then he'll carry them asleep to their cribs. he does this because he's not ready to CIO (he can't handle when they cry on occassion for their naps). the thing is, this system may work for him, but this won't work for babysitters. next month my SIL is getting married, and either i have to leave early to put them to bed, or we can have my mom put them to bed so i can stay and have some much deserved fun. but i think it would be easier for my mom to just be able to feed them and put them down.

the issue: they fall asleep after (sometimes in the middle of) this bottle. but then about 90% of the time they wake back up and fuss and whine. so DH gives them more milk. i really don't think that that is necessary, seeing as they just finished 8 oz (and had solids before that). i'm wondering if they are waking up because they are in the bouncies and not comfortable, or if they really are hungry for more. because i want to be able to feed them their 8 oz, put them down in their cribs and be done with it until they wake up in the night for their night feeding (which i can't wait for THAT to stop, either, but that's another issue! )

i guess we shoudl just start feeding them their 8 oz, burp them, and take them to the cribs for the night...? (i do this for naps, and it's fine, and they don't wake up a half hour later fussing and whining).

    did this make sense?

Absolute sense because this is EXACTLY what happens in our house except we each hold one to feed them their last bottle. Can't wait to see some responses.

Our bedtime routine is pretty much the same thing everyday. They get their last bottle (8oz) around 7-730pm they burp and go right to their cribs. Sometimes one of them falls asleep in the middle of his bottle but they are sleeping until 6:30-7am. I have all of their feedings and naps on a schedule and I know when they are ready for bed.

I not sure if this helps but this is what I do. Good luck

Well, we feed our guys at 5:45pm and put them to bed around 6ish. They both usually eat about 8oz and then go in there crib. Pretty much every night Ryan will be content in his crib for about 15 minutes and then starts crying for more bottle. Usually we will give him an additional 2oz and then he falls right to sleep but there has been a couple of times where he had 8oz and then an additional 4oz and then an additional 2oz. That was 14oz total. Needless to say the next day I started rice ceral. Now that they are eating solids they will take the 8oz and then occassioanlly he will still want 2 more oz so we just give it to him and he falls right to sleep. I don't see anything wrong with giving him anymore....
Not sure if that answered your question or I was just rambling:)

oh yeah makes alot of sense, but am wondering why you can't drop the night feeding now and just let the them sleep through?

Our nighttime routine is about the same as yours. We feed them their last bottle with teething tablets between 8:30-9pm, if they are still awake we let them sit in their bouncies (mainly because we live in an apt and don't want the neighbors to call CPS if they hear them cry) they usually fall alseep then carry them to their crib. They'll wake up maybe once, mainly because they dropped their binkie. Once we put the binkie back in their mouth they quickly fall back alseep.

Events like yours that has you up past their bedtime, what we do is either 1) one of us will go home with them while the other stays or 2) we let them stay up later than usual, but tends to throw off the routine. They bounce back to their normal routine though.

uh, yeah. I don't even want to tell you when our kids go to bed. We're working towards getting an earlier bedtime. But it's nice because I have the two extra hands when my DH gets home from work, and then they sleep in usually until 8:30 in the morning, and take at least two good naps, and 1-2 shorter naps during the day.

    Good luck!

my girls eat and go to bed and you could set you clock by it. they get their last bottle at 5:45ish 6, 8 oz then burp then bed by 6:30 then they sleep till 6:30. my dh wakes them at 6:30 sometime they wake a little before. i wonder how long they would sleep till but dh walk out the door to work at 7 so i love the fact he does the 1st feeding by his self

We have solids at 7:00 (we feed them dinner at the same time as our dinner) and then a final nursing at between 8:00 and 8:30. We aim for 8:00, but hardly ever make it. Sometimes Callie falls asleep while nursing, but usually they are both awake, and we put them to bed, give pacis and loveys and that's it. Sometimes they lay there and talk for a while, sometimes they go right to sleep. But we don't go back in unless somebody is screaming (which rarely happens) If we are out or doing something that's going to mess with their bed time, then I at least try to make sure that they get their solids and their nursing (or a bottle of EBM) at the normal time, and then when we get them home they can just go straight to bed.

I think you should try to give the feeding and then put them in bed - skip the bouncies. They may fight it for a bit because it's a change in their routine, but they'll adapt. We've found that it takes 3 days for them to adjust to a change in their routine. After 3 days they are just fine.

They have dinner at 5 and then nurse 6:30 or 7 and right to bed. Then they sleep until 7 am. We started the 7 bedtime at about 4 or 5 mo. by 6 mo DS was going 12 hours and DD at 4 mo. I like the early bedtime so I have my evenings. My DH works until 1 am so I am alone. I even put them down at other peoples houses if I am visiting or have friends over at 7 and they are already in bed. It is wonderful.

M&A get solids at 5:30, baths at approx. 6:30-6:45, then their last bottle (9-10 oz.) at 7:00-7:15, then it is lights out (they fall asleep immediately, we never have to put them to bed awake) until about 6am for him and 6:30 for her! ;-)

We worried about DST, but it hasn't phased them one bit still being light outside when we put them to bed--and it helps that their rooms are on the east side of the house so it's pretty dim w/ the blinds closed...

Our bed time routine is 7:30ish baths, then bottle and in cribs by 8 pm-mine usually fall asleep while eating that last bottle but even if they dont the are drousy and I put them in their cribs and lights out. I have been doing this since 8weeks and it has worked great. Sometimes I have to stand next to the crib with a hand on their chest and shush until they fall asleep but this never lasts too long. On the rare occassion one cries I will put in the swing until they fall asleep and then transfer to the crib. Fingers crossed this routine stays this way!

We do a last bottle at 7:30 and the girls are in bed by 8:00-8:15. We just moved bedtime a tiny bit earlier because they were seeming to get tired and fussier earlier than they were before. They still wake up to eat once around 3-4 a.m. and then sleep until 6:30 or 7:00. They are about 2.5 months adjusted age (4.5 months actual).

We do solids and final bottle between 5 and 5:30. Then it's into jammies and off to bed by 6 / 6:15. You could pretty much set a clock to their bedtime routine around here. I like to give them up to a half hour after their bottles before bed. That time is usually just spent being quiet on the floor / couch with paci's or a small toy.

OUr babies, although quite a bit younger then yours, bedtime is 800pm. We do bath at 7, last feed at 730 and in bed by 800pm, and 95% of the time they go right down, the other 5% I have to bf a bit more to get them to sleep.

Baths at 6:30, last bottle at 7:00 which is 7ozs and in bed no later than 7:30. Sometimes they fuss, but I let them CIO and it usually lasts no longer than 10 minutes.

Our babies go down between 6:30 and 7. DH does the routine the nights that I work and the nights we are both here we do it together. We have floor time, change into pj's, do bottles (if DH is alone they sit in boppies, if we are both here we each feed a baby), then a quick cuddle and into the crib awake. They are asleep within 10 minutes with zero fussing. Now we did have to do CIO with DD to get to this point, we did the modified version of soothing without picking her up. It was a tough phase (we did it at 5 monthsish) but it is so worth it now to hear her roll around and play with her lovey for 5 minutes and then conk out. Once down they generally sleep until 7-7:30 a, DS often wakes at 5:30 or 6 but I throw him in bed with me and he goes back to sleep until 7:30ish.

I would definitely feed them and put them to bed in the cribs. I think they are more likely to sleep better.

My beebs go to bed at 7:30 (that is when they have their last bottle) and they wake up around 7:30 am, and get their morning bottle around 8 am.

I was nursing them at 830ish and then putting them down and they would go to sleep fairly easily. Now that they are both teething we have had plenty of nights where they have fought sleep for 1-2 hours so we try and hold off till 9 or until they look very sleepy. Seems to be working so far. Oh and they sleep pretty well through the night, occasionally needing to be "corked," as you might say and I mean that in the most loving way, but they usually wake up around 730-8am.

Dinner (solids) is around 5:30, then we play for a bit. Baths around 6:15, change into jammies, last bottle (8oz) at about 6:30/6:45, in asleep in cribs at 7pm. This schedule has really worked well for us. When needed we can push bedtime a little bit later, but much past 7:30, we are in trouble with overtired babies. I enjoy the early bedtime and the evening alone with DH.

We feed them about 9:00, at 10:00, it's like someone flips a switch. We try to put them down drowsy but not asleep yet, so they learn to go to sleep without being on someone's chest. They get up about 7:00 to eat, then go back to sleep for a few hours. Yeah, we are very lucky! (Knock on wood)

Yes, I say give them their last bottle and get them to bed. Ours were going to bed at 5:30pm at that age since they gave up their third nap early. But they were still night waking to eat too.

My girls godown between 630-7. If they had terrible naps or are fussy then I aim for as close to 6 as possible but almost always end up being like 630ish.
