I feel like my girls need more toys, I know that sounds crazy. They play in their bouncers, exersaucer, swing and jumperoo. I just got rid of the playgym becuase they are always rolling on their tummies and aren't as interested. I have some infantino rattles etc., teething rings, link-a-doos, crackly books. I am just wondering what kinds of toys your 5-6 mo. olds play with?

    Thanks so much!

Cloth books became a quick favorite at that age. They have kinds that crinkle and make other noises when they play with them!

I posted a similar question (mostly we're trying to decide if we want to buy a jumperoo--small house, not much space--so it will be a bit of a sacrifice; but Theo has convinced us he needs one). Mine still play with their gymini, but only if they are seated in the bumpo so that they can grab the toys as they dangle in front of them. Like yours, they just roll over if you lay them on their backs. So I've started just putting a big blanket on the floor and scattering soft blocks, rattles, and stuff like that on it for them to grab at. They seem to like it. I also got this four sided tummy time toy that has a mirror on one side, crinkly stuff, birds that are attached with velcro that can be taken on and off and put in their "nest," etc. That's been a hit.

We still do quite a bit of saucer time as well; but the floor seems to be as entertaining for them at this point.

Pretty much all the same stuff you are using. The one thing we found that has been a big hit lately is a no name brand 4" red & blue ball with a rattle ball in it that we found at Ross by accident. The boys love it. Every time they reach for it they knock it foward and then it's a race (at tortise speed :) )to see who can get to it first. They chase the thing around for 20-30 minutes at a time. I only put it in alcatraz (their giant play place in the living room) for about a half hour a day so they don't get tired of it and don't completely tucker themselves out. My mom also found something called an Oball from target in the kids section, not babies. It looks kinda like a jungle gym - very holey. It's super easy for them to pick up and eventually throw (by accident...). It's soft enough they can bonk each other with it, and they seem to enjoy drooling on it and chasing it around when it gets tossed as well. Even before they were really moving they enjoyed playing with balls - we would put them close to a wall, and put the ball just at the tip of their fingers where they could get to it if they streched. When they reached for it they would knock it foward into the wall and then it would roll back to them. Rinse. Repeat. Kept them on their tummies and entertained for a while.

Mine are 4 1/2 months. I purchased one of those foam alphabet mats for us to play with on the floor. http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/produc...cmSource=Search

Here are some of their favorite toys. My boys tend like any toys that light up and have something that they can hit with their hands.

Daddy calls this one the baby slot machine. It plays alphabet song, makes animal noises, and says letters names.

Drum(they laugh at me when I hit this)

Around town baby driver. They like to sit on my lap and spin the wheel.

It seems like every toy is headed right for our ds's mouth so I just ran over to BRU at lunch and they have a whole area dedicated to teether toys. I went nuts and bought like 5 toys each. Our dd also likes to try and stick things in her mouth but not as much. As pp posted there are teething books with crinkly pages. I can't wait to get home tonight and watch them go nuts!!! We also have every toy, activity mat you can imagine. Our dd loved her exersaucer and the boy loves this toy I found at BRU that you lay underneath and there are two crinkly toys hanging down and when you pull on them lights and music play from above. I think it was only 40 bucks. It's funny how they like different things. We also just got a Curious George Jack in the box, which captures their attention for 5 minutes every now and then. Mommy dancing is a big hit too. ;) Finally someone appreciates my fine dancing abilities. Ha, picture Elaine from Seinfeld.

Ours play with basically the same stuff. WE have a few leap frog toys that make sounds when you press buttons that they like too and several rattles they play with, but that is about it.
