Well my girls are almost 6.5 months now and one of my girls have all of a sudden decided she doesn't want to eat the jar baby foods..she twists her head to avoid the spoon and when I can get the spoon in her mouth she clenches her jaw so I can't get the spoon in or spits the spoon out with her tounge. I know she is hungry cause I can give her yogourt two seconds later and she opens her mouth wide open for that..the little devil..LOL..could it be cause she just doesn't like the jar foods and will have to start making homemade meals...I thought 6 months was young to start doing this..Has anyone else have this problem and what can i do to make her eat? mealtimes are so fusterating for me..

My dd did the same thing as you described. I guess you could take the homemade food route and see how it goes. If I weren't so lazy, I would probably try that! ;) What I did was first put the baby food on the spoon and dip it into the yogurt, because she loved yogurt as well. It worked for her. Good luck, I hope she starts eating again soon...I know what you mean about frustrating, I was too!

I did this too with the foods that they were not particularly fond of, and it worked!

I was giving mine table foods pretty early on, I just mushed it in the blender. We started solids at 4 months at our ped's urging because they were over a quart of formula per day each at that point. They had table foods probably in the first month they were eating solids.
They never really liked the jar foods but would eat them if they knew that's all they were getting (lol!)

Check out wholesomebabyfood.com for some great recipes. Making your own babyfood is actually easier than you would think and my kids liked it better than the jarred stuff.

I hope this isn't the case with you but when Iris doesn't want to eat something it's because she's allergic to it. Sometimes it's a very low grade allergy with no other symptoms.
Because of these allergies she's a reluctant eater and I've found if she has a toy in front of her to play with she'll eat much better. Nefeli on the other hand will get distracted if she has a toy.

Yep, I trick them too. They get 3 spoonfulls of what they like, then they expect a fourth of something they don't like. Or you can put two different things on the same spoon, like people suggested. By the time they figure it out, it's too late! LOL! I read somewhere on this board that it can take up to 15 times of trying something before they will "like" it.

I would give mine a plastic spoon to hold, chew on, put in their mouths- simply with the goal of distracting them enough to get the food in...it worked for us!!
