All these stories of early contractions are making me nervous. My friend just had a baby on Fri, at 34 weeks, and I am right at the point where I went into labor with the twins, so it got me thinking what do I need in my hosp. bag?

You would think I would know this, having done it twice...but I have no clue!!!

So I am curious...what will be in your bag??

Its funny that you ask that because I was just thinking that I should pack one. Pjs, camera, toothbrush, razor, deodorant, clothes for me and baby to go home in, video camera, underwear, pads (so I don't have to wear horrible hospital ones) I don't know what else. Anxious to see what everyone writes.

I'm wearing my coming home outfit and packing baby outfit, underwear, toothbrush/paste, boppy pillow. I over packed last time and realize we completely over did it.

I will be packing pjs, camera, video camera, extra batteries, extra tapes, toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, hair brush, make-up, contact stuff, glasses, boppy pillow, pillow from my bed, my pink blanket (I have trouble sleeping at the hospital and that blanket helps) CD player and CDs, baby book, pictures of the kids, breast pads, pads, underwear (but I figure I will wear the hospital ones anyway), nursing bras, and something to wear home. I'm sure I am forgetting something. I know that seems like a lot but it's all stuff that I either need or wished I had previously. DH and the kids will be going to buy (and then wash) something for the baby to wear home after she is born. Without knowing what size will fit best (and we aren't 100% convinced this is a girl) I don't want to get anything now. Plus I think it will be something nice for DH and the kids to do.

My doctor told me at my appointment last night to start getting my bag packed. Well, I'm doing good to even have an idea of what I want. lol

    breast pads
    tee-shirts
comfy pants (for going home and lounging at hospital)
    camera (and battery charger)
    camcorder (and battery charger)
    gum
    toiletries, makeup, contacts, glasses, etc
    slippers and socks

    going home outfit for baby
    baby book
    picture outfit for baby
    blanket for car seat

Having done this 6 times before I have learned a lot!!!!!

I am wearing the same outfit to the hospital that I will be wearing home (c-section, so I want nothing tight)......I will only have it on for about 1/2 hour from the time that I get dressed at home, drive 20 minutes to the hospital, and change into their gown. A toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, soap, brush, hair ties, camera, and charger, baby book, pillow from home, and a small fan (for white noise, like I have at home). I will wear sandal type shoes that will double as by slippers (to wear in the hall). A house coat for the hall also.

My hubby has always went out and bought a going home outfit and a picture outfit, after the baby/babies are born, so I will not need to pack those.

Pads and undies, and pj's will be the ones that the hospital provides.

A word from the wise too........have hubby bring items home each time that he leaves (such as the gifts that people bring up to the hospital for you and the baby, the diaper bag that the hospital gives out, bag of handouts (papers) that the hospital provides, etc.......when you are actually checking out to leave, the only thing left with you should be the baby, and your supplies that are needing for the last day there....the baby book is needed for visitors to sign and the hospital staff to do the baby footprints in as soon as they can (learned the hard way that they do it MUCH better than I do (not to mention that they have had LOTS of practice).

Thanks for the ideas. I have never packed a bag for the hospital before, with the girls being born early... I would have totally forgotten the hair ties and the baby book would have slipped my mind as well. I'm so impressed that these hubbies are out shopping... my despises any sort of shopping so hopefully we have the genders correct and the clothes I bring with me will be ok. Can't wait to hear everyone's news!!

It sounds like everyone covered everything. I think I need to add a few items to by bag.
