What are you going to do for birth control?

I think I really need to start thinking about birth control for after this little one arrives. Which makes me curious what everyone else is doing.

This is my second pregnancy with being on BCP. I am very anal about taking them on time everyday and I wasn't on anti-biotics. So, I'm in that very little percentage that the pill doesn't work for. I can't be on the shot--I tried after DS and it screwed up my body pretty bad. I'm allergic to the patch. I had the ring right before I got pregnant with the girls and it kept falling out. (weird!) After the girls were born we had the Mirena put in. I bled 3 weeks out of 4 every month and had lots of other issues with it. I put up with that for about 6.5 months before I had them take it out and was put back on the pill. Which of course I got pregnant on. I feel I am too young (22) to decide on a tubial even though I feel our family is complete. DH has talked about getting a vasectomy--but he feels like I do, too young (23). I'm allergic to latex and the non-latex condoms literally make me gag from the smell.

I have no clue what we will do after this one is born. What are you all going to do?

I practice Natural Family Planning (the Creighton model). I'm the only one in my family (of 5 girls) who has never had an unplanned pregnancy. My three older sisters have 4/5 kids each and my younger sister is pg with her first "surprise". It's great for me.

I am sending DH to school for 4 months so that takes care of a fw months!! We are both older I am 33 he will be 36 when the baby is born, we know our family is complete now, so Dh is having a vasectomy after he comes home. The pill makes me too hormonal and depressed. I had the same problem with the patch and I am also allergic to latex. We have always just used planning and avoided my fertile days but would like to not worry about it so he is going to have a V.

No clue here. I thought infertility was the best birth control. I could go back on the pill but hate the every day kind of thing. I'm thinking IUD. DOn't know.

I am a liitle older than you but in the same boat. I am 28. This is our third but we are most likely done. Dh is probably going to have a v but he is only 26. I hate doing anything permanent but the only thing I haven't tried is an IUD.

I don't like the pill, makes me very hormonal. The shot sent me way too far out of whack. I do like the Nuvaring though. Are you sure you put it in far enough? It was pretty tough to fetch out for me! We are older and I am not certain we are done as to being final in having children so we have been tossing around the idea of having dh get a vasectomy but its way to final in my eyes! This is baby number 5 and even I can't say with enough certainty that permanent fix is good for us.

Yes, I'm sure I put it in far enough. I couldn't put it in any farther than it was. It would fall out when (TMI) DH and I would DTD. ;)

I plan on the going on the pill. As much as I hate having to remember to take the dang thing everyday, I don't want to be pregnant for a while. My poor body needs a break!

I haven't tired anything other than the pill when I was first married so I am a little afraid to try anything else.

That is weird about the ring falling out...I used that for 2 years before getting pregnant with Olivia and never had a problem. I loved it! I was on BCP for 5-6 years before gettingp pregnant with the twins. I went off of it and got pregnant in one month. This time, with the Nuva Ring, I went off of it and it took me 2 months to get pregnant.

DH and I are both 29. DH is definitely done with kids and I finally have that feeling that my family is complete. Although, I would possibly entertain another in 3-5 years...DH says NO! So, we are probab ly done. I will be asking about an IUD when I got in for my post-partum appt. Not sure which one I'll do, but I dont' want to do anything permanent just yet. Plus, where I devlier is a Catholic hospital, so they wouldn't do it anyway. If we decide later on to do something permanent, DH will get a vasectomy.

I don't know what I would do in your situation...probably Natural Family Planning like another pp said.

DH and I were just talking about this topic and he suggested that's when it probably fell out lol He also said that they discontinued the ring temporarily for some reason too!

I'll be going on the pill. I was on it for years before we started trying to have kids. Turns out that with polycystic ovaries, it's actually good to be on the pill because it helps to regulate your body. I don't really worry about having an accidental pregnancy and I didn't mind being on the pill before.
