What are the sleeping arrangements for your 2 1/2 yr olds?

The girls are still in cribs but we are slowly creeping up to big girl beds. Their cribs do convert to toddler beds, but they have practically ruined them with how rough they are. DP thinks we should get them one double bed to share. I think we should get two twins and just push them together if they want to sleep with each other. He hates that idea. They have never slept together before so I am worried we would buy a double bed and they wouldn't like sleeping together. Any ideas or advice?

We converted their cribs when they were 2 1/2 to toddler beds. They aren't in the best condition, but it's pretty much cosmetic. I think it made the adjustment easier. FWIW, my kids never slept together in the same bed until some recent traveling. They definitely don't sleep as well when sharing. One moves around a lot and I think it bothered the other or one wanted covers and the other didn't. So, I would suggest keeping them in separate beds if you can since it's what they know and are used to.

I personally would get 2 twin beds.

definitely two twin beds - if they really want to sleep together, they can fit just fine both of them in one twin for now. but i don't think it's fair not to give them each their own space if they want it.

We switched them to toddler beds at 16-18m they always slept in their own bed. With in the last 2 weeks we bought them twin beds. They each have their own but some nights they choose to sleep together. But I would rather give them the option to want to rather then to have to sleep with their brother.

Also think about the long run. Unless you have an extra full size bed laying around its going to cost you more in the long run b/c they are not going to sleep together for ever. And IMO a twin size bed at this age is plenty big for 2 toddlers they look so tiny in the big beds:)

We have two toddler beds. The only time they sleep together is if they come into our bed.

we have a regular twin bed and I make it so each of their heads is at either side of the bed. They don't fit in a crib together anymore without kicking the heck out of each other. WE still have the crib up and when they (usually ds) refuse to go to sleep the offender must sleep in the crib. needless to say. ds sleeps in the crib most nights.

We have two toddler beds. They always start out in their own bed, but often end up together or even on the floor with a large blanket.

I cant imagine my girls together. But if they had been sleepign together all along, okay- but they have different sleep patterns(though same bed/wake time). One is very restless and talks for a good 1/2-45 min prior to sleeping the other is right out. They also are starting to get territorial so sharing a bed would cause a lot of 'my blanket! My side. etc' going on.

Good Luck, there is no right/wrong but what will work best for your girls!)

PS good to see you around!

They have their own rooms with full sized beds. The only time they slept together was when they were newborns.

I intend to get mine separate twin beds. They have never slept together, and one is a very active sleeper and the other is very still. I figure if they really want to sleep together, they can both fit in one twin. But right now they are very into talking about whose is whose (re: carseats, chairs, cribs, stuffed animals, etc.), and I can't imagine them sharing something as important as a bed.

I would get separate beds. The question I always ask with stuff like this is, if they weren't twins would it be a thought? Like if they were 12 months apart, would you even consider having them share a bed? Probably not. So why should they have to share simply because they are twins?

Mine each have their own twin beds. I have told them they can sleep together if they want but they never do. If yours sleep in their own cribs now I don't see why they would have a problem with their own beds. I am sure they will probably be happy just sleeping in the same room. Mine ask me all the time at nap time if they can sleep in the same room, but since they don't sleep they can't but at night they share. The other thing to look at is if they are in their own cribs they might night like sharing a bed, one might kick or something in their sleep then you will have a big bed and end up having to buy the smaller ones anyway.

We're still in cribs, but will get two beds. If you get one full size bed and they don't like it, then what do you do? At least with two twin beds, it keeps the options open.

We have two toddler beds. Jessy was in a converted crib but kept falling out and getting hurt. They shared a crib till they were 14 months and sleep together at naps in a queen just fine

Mine prefer to be together, and actually sleep much better that way. They were recently moved into their own Queen bed, they have slept great ever since. Most nights i check on them they are actually sleeping with their faces together, which is how the were as infants. I think mine just prefer the closeness!

    How about what we did?

Two twin beds, but at this point they are still sleeping in one together. They sleep with their heads at opposite ends, feet together in the middle.

But my girls have always slept that way, their crib was one of the twin beds, we started leaving the door down, so they could get in and out, but still not roll out, when they were about 2.5 and we took the rails off completely for their third birthday. I would wait longer if I had that to do again, one has never fallen out, but the other falls out about once a week!!! Lucky for her the bed is lower to the ground than a normal bed and we have tons of exta pillows on it during the day (like a day bed) so I put then on the floor on her side of the bed at night and she falls onto them.

I'd go with the twin beds. Of course, we moved our three year olds out of (two) cribs at the start of the year and they now insist on sleeping together in one twin bed.]
