What are some different ways to give them yorgurt?

I've always given them yogurt just straight out of the cup and it's never enough as a meal. I know I could move up to the adult size ones at this point and plan on doing that when we finish off what we have but I was just wondering what are some tasty ways of giving them yogurt but added with something to make it more filling. Like for example, could I give yogurt with cherrios mixed in it? I mean I know I could but do you think they would like it or is it just a trial and error kind of thing? TIA for your ideas.

I mix yogurt with baby food and then add some wheat germ (suggestion from a fellow TSer -- not sure who!) to help them poop. ;)

You could certainly mix it with Cheerios or something -- however, my girls seem wary of things with mixed textures like that. If they're eating something from a spoon (like yogurt or oatmeal), they like it to be smooth, not to have chunks in it.

My kids are the same way... fruit chunks are okay sometimes, but I can't get them to eat yogurt and granola (one of my favorites!). If your kids are okay with the texture thing, go for it!

Other ideas - smoothies, yogurt and applesauce mix (my kids love this!) or any other fruit puree (I get frozen mango at Trader Joes and puree it... they love that too), yogurt and other cereals (grape nuts)

Also, my kids will dip just about anything into yogurt. It's strange... but they seem happy with it, so I don't discourage it. Some of their favorites to dip: fruit (like apples or pears), graham crackers, rice cakes. I serve yogurt a lot (it's one of the few things I KNOW they will eat), so they usually try dipping whatever else was served. Yes, they have tried dipping their chicken and veggies in too (yuck!!), but they've never repeated those :)

I've tried a little oatmeal, which they like ok. But their favorite is when I freeze it, actually. I bought one of those little popsicle trays from Target, and I just mix plain yogurt with some fruit & a little applejuice (it was pretty bitter w/o it, even with the fruit) and I freeze them as popsicles! I use them like a special treat (they still get regular yogurt every day). They LOVE it. Kinda messy, though. ;)

How would they drink that? I just bought sippies with straws, maybe that would be a great way to entice them to try the new sippies? Hmmm great idea Becky thanks :D

I put polaner all-fruit (preserves) in the yogurt so it's like the fruit on the bottom yogurt, except healthy. Also, raisins are a good add-in if they can handle them.

Mash up banana with whole plain yogurt. It tastes just as good as the flavored ones. They love it. You can also mix sweet potato with yogurt.

We freeze our gogurt tubes. The girls love this and it's not as messy! I just pull them out of the freezer when there hungry, cut the tops of and run them under water to loosen the yogurt up a bit. A great snack, but I would still serve at the table.

I usually take 1/2 container of yo-baby add 1 egg, 1 tbsp of flour, beat all together and make an omelet. Than I spread the remaining yogurt on the omelet, make a roll and slice it - makes very delicious and nutritious breakfast.

In addition to just drinking the smoothies, we freeze it in popsicle molds.

I open a can of fruit, pour it in a bowl, and freeze it. Then put the frozen fruit and a yogurt in the blender. Makes a wonderful smoothie. If it's too think add some milk to make it a milk shake or some juice to make it a smoothie. You can make them really thin so they're easy to suck through a straw.

My girls love Cheerios with yogurt. The occasionally eat them with milk now, but usually they ask for it with yogurt. I also make hot oatmeal then drop a big dollup of yorgurt in the center of their bowl--this has the added advantage of cooling the oatmeal faster. When they were younger I mixed yogurt with baby oatmeal, rice or high protien cereal. We used the high protien a lot because we don't eat much meat. Cut up fruit in the yogurt is also popular with my girls--we are right in the height of mango season here. I also use yogurt as a dip for apple slices and graham crackers. (Bagel sticks would be good to dip in yogurt, but we don't have those here :( )

We usually do plain yogurt with cut-up fruit mixed in, along with wheat germ. Our doc suggested the wheat germ when they were having constipation issues, and they like it, so we kept it up. I've also done cheerios, rice krispies, and oatmeal. I just buy a big tub of plain yogurt since they eat it almost every day. They also have a bread (toast, waffle, or pancake) on the side for breakfast, and half the fruit out of my cereal, and sometimes pieces of my cereal. (Mama cee-al!! Mama soot(fruit)!!).

I mix my kids cereal with yogurt - cheerios, kix, king vitamin, honey bunches of oats, etc. They all LOVE it. I like that egg suggestion.

My kids simply have the drinkable yogurt in a sippie with breakfast.

    Dragonfly,

is that recipe a single serving or is that enough to feed them both? It just doesn't sound like enough for 2? I want to try this today if I hear from you in time. If not perhaps I'll try it for b-fast tomorrow. Thanks
