Ugh, it was not the beautiful holiday I had planned. Started off with DH and I arguing on the way to church because he was ticked that we were running late. Well, sorry, but it's not exactly easy getting out of the house these days and I was having a wardrobe crisis since none of my clothes fit anymore.
Then after the service my MIL and FIL turn immediately to their friends and start showing off/gushing about and passing the twins around (which I didn't like anyway!), leaving my 13 yr to sit there feeling totally ignored. We don't go to their church and her feelings were very hurt. I had to find a private bathroom to console her while she cried and told me she felt like "chopped liver." :hug99:
Then we come home to cook and at dinner my FIL starts teasing my DD1 about "only"taking 9th place (out of 100+ btw) at a recent Pony Club Quiz Rally (like a quiz bowl)!? I was pissed, she ran from the table crying and I once again had to console her. They didn't realize she'd been upset earlier, but still. She's a young teenager and very sensitive anyway. GRR.

THEN, my MIL was at the table holding one of the babies when the chair she was sitting in SHATTERED!! We were one chair short so were using a plastic lawn chair, and it broke in 3 different places :icon_eek: Luckily she and the baby were fine, but we were all very shaken.

Sigh. Oh well. Better luck next year! Thanks for letting me vent!

OMGoodness Sara! I am glad your mom-in-law and the baby are ok! Scary! And your poor daughter. It's so hard, especially when there are not just one, but 2 babies, that are being gushed over. Just try to explain to her that they were the same way when she was a baby. :hug99:

I'm sorry your Easter didn't go so great! I'm glad your MIL and baby are okay - we've had that happen before too.
Your poor DD - it'd be hard to be the only child for awhile and then share the spotlight with 2 new additions. And she's at an age when she probably takes things more to heart, I know I was at that age. Good for her taking 9th place out of that many!

9 out of 100 is nothing to sneeze at! You tell Trinady we are all proud of her. ;) It sounds like she had a really bad day, poor girl!

I'm glad that MIL and baby were ok, I tell you, those lawn chairs are dangerous!

Hi, my name is April....I am on the Expecting Twins board. I will be joining you all here in Aug/Sept!

Sorry to hear your Easter was kind of blah. Mine started rough too. First the weather is soooo crappy....snow on the ground. Colder for Easter than Christmas.

I was up at 3am with cramping, and then the babies were moving. I was finally falling back asleep at 5am when our "critter" decided to start digging in our attic above our room. DH was up in the attic then trying to get it out. I thought my ceiling was coming down. We then set out the Easter stuff for DD and went back to bed.

We got up at 8:30, did the egg hunt with DD, and DH tells me that he has stuff for a basket for me. He went out to his car to get it, and someone stole the candy along with change & some CD's. So he felt bad, went out bought more and made me a basket (of coarse I find out today I failed my one hour glucose test, and I do the three hour tomorrow).

Then, while I was getting ready, I was going to plug in my blowdryer, and got a pretty good zap all the way up my arm. Scared the daylights out of me. By this time I am in tears. Luckily the rest of the day went smoothly, but I was ready to go back to bed.

    April

Poor Trinady. That has to be hard for her. Also, 9 out of 100 is amazing! Something to be very proud of!

OMG, that happened at our house too! The chair my dad was sitting on busted right out from under him! Luckily he was OK and we made jokes about eating too much, but wow, that's wierd.

oh boy, sounds like fun times with family.

I'm sure this is a hard time for Trinady....I'm sure it's rough for you managing a 13 year old and 4 month old twins!
