Somtimes it seems like nothing will soothe DD but her brother. I can put him right beside her sometimes when she is crying a lot and she will calm right down. But, when I put them both on the playmat, they don't even look at each other. Me and DH put them face to face this morning and they were not one bit interested in each other. So I was wondering what age do they really notice each other when they are near? Thanks.
They 'knew' there was another baby there when they were 3 months, but didn't really look or stare or interact until about 6 months.
The boys were around 4 months when they actually noticed each other. Before that we could put them in front of one another and they would look everywhere else but at each other. They didn't start really interacting with each other until around 6-7 months though.
Mine noticed each other around three months and started interacting at five months ("talking" to each other, reaching for each other, etc.) Now at seven months old, we can't keep them apart. They would gladly touch each others faces, lick the other, and chew on each others feet all day long if we'd let them. Every morning I put them in one crib and they coo and babble at each other and don't stop giggling and smiling for at least ten minutes. It is my favorite part of having twins.
Mine didnt really "notice" each other until they were sitting up unassisted and right next to each other at about 7 months.
Mine stare at each other a lot but that's about it...oh, G is constantly trying to get L's hand in her mouth if I lay them close enough while they are playing. Here's a picture of her doing it... http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/lieselb/IMG_0412.jpg
I think they "knew" there was another baby pretty early on (holding hands while nursing, etc), but just recently (probably right around 6.5-7 months) have they gotten excited to see each other after naps and in the morning, "playing" with each other while they are sitting up, stealing each others' toys, etc, etc. It's a fun thing to see! Oh, that's so sweet that the one twin soothes the other! Mine have been staring at each other & trying to grab each other while nursing for a long time, but they've only just started interacting, and even now it's hit or miss. One may go nuts grinning at the other - and the other doesn't give a hoot!
About 4 months. I thought it was so great! now they have baby wrestling matches if I try to put them together in the crib or something like that. constant hair pulling, grabbing, biting, I wish they would notice LESS of each other! J/K!
Thanks for all the responses. I think it will be so cute when they can play with each other and laugh at each other.
Mine seemed to know when the other was away or out of the room, but they have just started to stare at each other and coo at each other in the past few weeks.
It was the day before they turned four months for us (New Years Eve last year) when they first looked at each other. It is so much fun once they start acknowledging one another and giggling just because they are staring at each other.
Mine are 9 months and don't seem to care about each other at all! They started noticing there was another baby in the house around 7 months but they aren't best friends yet, that's for sure.

Same here!!! What was funny was if there was another baby in the room (friends of ours had a little girl 10 days before us), M & A would look at her, but not at each other! Now they play together and giggle and its just the cutest thing ever!
