Since I decided against Kindermusik this semester, I'd like to do swimming with the girls. At what age did you take your twins swimming? The YMCA offers a class from March to early June. Do you think it's too cold to swim in March and April?? I don't want the water to be cold for them even though it's indoor.

We didn't start swim classes until they were 3, and could go in on their own. Jon did do a few sessions at the Y when he was about 18 month, but DH wasn't too impressed with it. Also, under 3, you have to have one adult per child, which wasn't happening here.

BTW, now my kids swim all year round.

I'm totally into getting my kids into the pool. I take them all the time.I just bought a video from babyswimming.com so I can learn some good techniques. Unfortunately there are no baby swimming classes here.

This website tells all about the benefits of getting babies in the pool right away. Apparently good for brain development. Read up on it to help you find a good swim class.

We started the girls the day before their 6 mo b-day. I don't know if I would bother paying for a class yet though. You may just want to bring them to the pool and get them used to the water. We can't really do the same things in the class as everyone else because the girls are so small.

When we were in FL we took the girls every night. We plan to start with classes in the spring. My DH is a certifies lifegaurd and used to teach swim classes and feels strongly about teaching early. So I'm just following his lead. [IMG]

We are starting the twins here at swimbabes next month. They start at 6 months. I tis amazing. They teach 6 month old babes to turn over and float on thei rown for water survival.

I think mommy and me swimming is great too. dd and I did that when she was about 6 months old.

Our Y has a class for 6-36 months, but I think it's mostly about comfort in the water. Mine already love the pool, so I'm holding out on any classes until the 3 year old class when they go in by themselves with the instructor and actually learn how to swim.

We're going to start swim class on March 3, and the girls will be 11 months old. I think they can start this particular class at 6 months.

It is at our gym pool, which is always quite warm, and it's on Saturday morning so DH and I can both be there. We can't wait!! DH was an All American swimmer in college, I swam on the swim team many years, and we live by the lake so the girls will spend lots of time in the water.

I took my oldest DD last summer when she was 2 for her first offical swimming lesson and she is now a really good swimmer. I will definitely be taking the twins swimming this summer, but will probably wait until they are 2 to do classes.

Our pedi told us they really don't get it much before 3 years old but you can definitely take them to Mommy and Me baby swimming classes to get them accustomed to being in water. Its fun!
