I'm curious for those of you who don't have family around and few friends, what did you do with your other child/ren when you had to go to the hospital to have your babies? I'm having my twins on friday and STILL don't know where my 7 yr old is going to go! It's making me really stress. My friends have to work and the hospital won't let her be there overnight and they say it's no place for a child anyway. I understand that but what the heck am I suppose to do? Surely, there are other women who have been in this predicament. Oh, and the father is not around so that's not an option either. Any ideas??

Does your daughter have any special school friends or neighborhood friends that you could call on. If not, you might want to consider a nanny for the weekend (I just discovered Craig's List and they have quite an extensive list of caregivers willing to provide overnight care). You don't have a lot of time to check references, etc but that might be an option, too. Best wishes to you.

I was going to say what the pp did... your daughter could probably stay with a friend from school. If I've ever been in a bind, and couldn't get in touch with family quickly enough, friends are usually close and usually more than willing to help.

Where are you located in Florida? You can send that to me in a PT.

If you are a member of a church, perhaps you could find support from them.

I would suggest either a school friend or maybe a neighbor...we have some elderly ladies that live near us and have always offered to help in a pinch because our families don't live close by.

    HUGS and GOOD LUCK!
