I keep hearing about THCA and THC in cannabis, but I don’t really understand the difference. Does one get you high while the other doesn’t?

I’m curious because some friends say THCA is healthier or has different effects. I want to know what the science says.

THCA is the non-psychoactive precursor to THC, which means it won’t get you high until it’s heated and converted into THC. A great article at https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab-blog/thca-vs-thc/ explains the chemical differences, potential therapeutic benefits of THCA, and why THC has psychoactive effects. Learning this helped me understand why people choose raw or heated cannabis differently and what effects to expect from each.
