Wet Spots in Underwear? Sign of Preterm labor?

Hi all - I have a gross question.

This week I've been noticing that my underwear is a little bit wet.. there is a tiny bit of discharge but there is always a bigger (not huge or soaking wet or anything) clear spot around it. I don't know if this is normal for pregnancy or if it's something I should worry about.

I'm in fear of preterm labor, or my cervix opening... A friend of mine lost her twins at about 20 weeks due to that. I was just had my cervix checked 2.5 weeks ago and it looked fine according to the peri.

Have any of you experienced this? Is it normal, or should I call about it? I do have an OB appointment next Wednesday but I'd hate to wait too long if it's a possible problem...

    Thanks.

Always call the OB if it will make you feel better. With that said, I've had the same thing for months now and no signs of PTL. My docs all know about it (especially since they both see me every day!) and would only be concerned if it increased severly or I started to gush.

It's normal to have increased fluid and discharge, but your doc will want to know the color, odor and possibly the texture of the discharge, so be ready with those descriptions when you call.

Don't ya just love the joys of pregnancy?

Increased discharge is pretty normal, unless it looks like gelatin or jelly, is pink/red/brown or is really thick, it's probably nothing but normal discharge.

Just wear a pantyliner all the time, I started around the end of the first tri wearing one.

Of course call your dr if you are at all concerned no doubt!! :)

A lot of the normal to be expected discharge is your bodies way of getting rid of extra hormones. We are producing so much right now that sometimes we just over produce and thats the bodies way of getting out the extra stuff.

I always had increased discharge during my pregnancies and had to wear a thin pad to absorb the moisture.

Thank you all with your replies.. it makes me feel better! I will give the doc a call though just to be safe, but I was thinking it was probably nothing to worry about.

I too had a good bit of discharge at different times during all of my pregnancies.

i have had to wear panty liners for about 2 months now im 33.5 weeks
as long as its only discharge, no smell, no chunks, alittle white or clear no other color i was told i was good.
ask your ob so you feel better about it though , but im quiet sure that is what he will tell you
    congrats on the twins
