werid contractions or babies kicking?

Hi Ladies,

So last night, I was very crampy (in general have been very crampy the last several days). My uterus started rumbling but it didn't exactly feel like a contraction. My girls were both awake so it was hard to tell what was going on because they were pounding away. And every few minutes, I'd feel this rumble ripple across my uterus. I couldn't tell if it was the girls kicking at a new level or if I was having contractions that felt different than prior ones because the babies are bigger now. I called the maternity ER affiliated with my high risk ob and the nurse was not helpful in determining what I was feeling. So, I drank a liter of water and tried to sleep, figuring that if it was contractions, they would wake me up. I woke up a few hours later but everything was calm again and the rumble has not come back.

Has anyone experienced something like this? If yes, what was it?

I felt like this when one of my girls would turn. It actually happened once during an US ... they were both vertex and I felt that weird sensation (I had felt if before and figured it was some sort of baby movement) and all the sudden B was transverse. Could it be that they are doing somersaults instead of kicks and punches? You would be amazed at how much they can move, even at 28 weeks and running out of room!

 

Actually turning or gymnastics would definitely fit what I was feeling. It was just hard to tell since whenever I do have contractions they are usually awake. I think the contractions agitate them. Thanks!

 

I think they are probably "Flipping" - I have experienced this too.

 

Probably flipping or turning. I felt Maya flip from breech to vertex - it was confirmed a few days later at my u/s!

Now, I was having BH that at first I didn't know were BH. I thought it was the babies until I could feel them kicking while my uterus was all hard and in a funny shape.
