We went in to our MFM specialist yesterday for another check on our girls; baby A is still strongly IUGR, and so she thought it was best to go ahead and schedule delivery for 34 weeks, which will be on Wednesday. I am so excited, but also worried. These are my first babies, and I'm going to try to have them vaginally - I know my body was made to do this, but it still makes me nervous! Also, I don't know how the birth will go, and what will happen once they whisk them off to the NICU. Trading one set of challenges for another... but still - we're going to be parents next week!

I'm so excited to meet my babies! Anyone have any last minute advice or tips for the birth? Thanks!

Is your doctor giving you the steroid shots?????? There are lots of women on here that swear the shots made all the difference. Just a thought!!!!

Congrats on getting to meet your girls soon! And way to go for making it this far! :)

I think it is totally normal to be nervous/anxious/scared and still sooo excited! You'll do fine! I was nervous about a vaginal birth when I had my older DS - and there was just one of him! It is not nearly so scary once things get going - you just start focusing on the end result. ;)

My twin boys were born at 35+1 via c-section and they did take Baby A straight to the NICU (he had fluid in his lungs) after a quick stop for me to give him a kiss. My Dh actually got to hold Baby B while they finished stitching me, etc. Then they took him down to join his brother b/c my hospital had a policy that babies born under 37 weeks had to spend at least 48 hours in the NICU. After I got out of the recovery room I was taken to my post-partum room and the nurse brought my Baby B down to my room. Since I bf them, though, I started mostly going down to the NICU so I could see both of them instead of having Baby B in my room and Baby A in the NICU.

You guys will do fine!! Can't wait to see your announcement on here - and head on over to The First Year forum - it is an awesome source of support!!

We're having our little ones on the 17th also! I'll be 33w6d and these are my first too. Baby A is our IUGR baby. Here's to hoping we both have great deliveries with healthy babies! :D

    Congratulations Mommas!
If I had any advice to give, it would be this: it's normal to be nervous, it's normal to be hormonal and moody and after the birth. Tell your DH/SO to be extra supportive with you because the emotions at times are like a roller coaster ride. And to have an extra set of hands besides you and your DH/SO for the first night home. I wish we did that, it would have made our first night home much easier. Most importantly, enjoy those babies! The first year flies by!
