Hello all! I never thought I'd be posting on the twins - the first year forum and in the pregnant after twins forum but here I am. My babies are 6 months old and I am 6 weeks pregnant! While my husband and I were very surprised we are excited and looking forward to raising our 3 (we're assuming it's one baby for now) :) little ones together so close in age. I'm feeling good, tired but I couldn't tell you if that's from having 6 months old twins or from being pregnant! A little nauseated now and then but no major complaints. We are just praying this baby is as happy and healthy as it's big brother and big sister.

Anyone else out there with babies this close in age? Any suggestions for us? Some days I do get a little overwhelmed at the thought of having 3 so young in the house, but then I think that once the new baby gets here Kathryn and Owen will be 14 months old and my days with them will be completely different than they are now. No bottles, real food, talking a little, walking, etc. Anyway, we're excited and can't wait for the first ultrasound! Any advice or words of wisdom on how to keep things running smoothly would be much appreciated!

Congratulations! Wow!! I had my twins when my oldest was 20 months and I thought that was close. I think all I can say is that you should mentally be aware that all three of them will really still be 'babies' together. I think one mistake I made was viewing my 20 month old as the 'big sister.' She did seem so much older, but later after enjoying my twins' babyhood more I realized that because of the way I viewed my older dd I really missed part of her babyhood. She got booted out of babyhood more quickly, mainly because of the way I viewed things at the time. So take the time to baby the twins even after the new infant arrives. Taking the time to snuggle with them and giving them enough attention will go a long way towards keeping them happy little campers with their baby sibling!

I found out I was pregnant with this baby, baby #7, when the twins were 5 months old. I will have 6 kids, 6 and under plus a teenager. :) Anyways, just to let you know what my twins are doing at 13 months. They were both walking by 11 months olds, but so far we haven't gotten rid of the bottles due to a very restrictive diet. LOL and they are definitely still in diapers. I totally agree with Susanna+3, I will not be rushing them to grow up and be bigger than they are. It wasn't their idea to have a sibling so close in age, well it wasn't mine either, but you get what I am saying. I plan to put the new baby on the same schedule for naps as the twins and my 3 year old. It's been pretty hard lifting them at 38 weeks pregnant. So I get help whenever I can.

Anyways, if you have any more questions just ask.

And CONGRATS!!!! How exciting!!! Will you be having an early u/s to get the head count?

We're trying to talk the doctor into doing an 8 week ultrasound but their policy at this base is to do one at 11 weeks, and they're not really working with us which isn't that unusual (sad but true). I feel like it's one baby though - I just had a feeling by 8 weeks that I was having twins last time and I'm not near as tired or nauseated this go around. But we'll see soon enough I guess! I agree with y'all about not making Kathryn and Owen grow up faster just because they are the "older" siblings. For all practical purposes they will still be babies when the new baby gets here and I'm not going to ever push them for something they're not ready for. Thanks for the words of widsom everyone!
