WE'RE A YEAR OLD!

my girls are one today! i can't believe it! i thought i'd be really sad, but i'm actually really excited! i love watching them grow so much. one year ago today i was in the hospital just anticipating the arrival of two tiny babies. then we brought them home and we had NO IDEA what we were doing. i was TERRIFIED! i was so afraid to be alone with them. what if they both cried at the same time? how could i pick them both up? then came the "witching hours" ... would i ever sleep again? will THEY ever sleep? rocking, feeding, holding, driving around teh block at 3am, white noise... i think those early days were the hardest days of my life.
the first 8 weeks i welcomed any and all help, because i just was too afraid to do it alone. at 8 weeks exactly i insisted i do it myself. i had to face my "fears". it really wasn't that bad! i put them in their carseats, sat on the floor in between them, and we hung out. i fed them their (or attempted to bf there), i read to them there, we stared at each other, i pumped there...
every week got it got easier, then every month. then they started hitting real milestones! rolling over! sitting up! teeth! saying "mama"! at 5 1/2 months i FINALLY got them to nap in their cribs (thank you, CIO) , and i got a break, some freedom! and we FINALLY got somewhat of a schedule!
then they started STTN, oh miracle of miracles! i started getting 7-8-9 hours of sleep a night again (of course i stopped pumping at night once they started sttn).
they went from being little cuddly lumps to little cuddly people! it's been such an amazing ride! it's just so awesome, these little people that come from you, that look like you, act like you, love YOU the most... it's amazing how, as a mother, you have so much love to give, and you would do anything in the world to protect your children. adn to make them happy.
i look back on those early *hard* days and think it was all worth it. all the sleepless nights, the 3am drives, the endless rocking, the extra comforting hugs and kisses to help them know they are safe... it was all worth it to see them so happy now :wub:

alright, milestones for the past month!

-marina is walking (still shaky, and still prefers to crawl at times), ivana is attempting to walk, but still scared and lets herself down right away lol
-say "uh oh"
- love to drop things and say "uh oh"
-know which buttons to press to make music/noise
- when i sing "how old are you?" they hold up one finger (i don't think they know what they're doing, cuz they only do it if i ask in my sing song voice lol )
- love the color blue (both of them. this can be a problem when it comes to toys)
- they hold out their hands and try to say "all gone" in serbian
- marina says "dibooo" for dinner teehee and "kaboo" for peekaboo (i love baby talk :wub: )
- marina growls when she's mad
- ivana's determination is unstoppable

I can't believe it's been a year. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So cute, from beginning to now, wow. :blush: I love their thick mops of hair, so sweet.

Look at all that hair!!! You know, they dont look identical in the first few pictures, like when they're swaddled, but they definitely did at 2mo.
I cant believe its been a year!! They went from being these little lumps to these little walkers! Its crazy!!

Its even crazier that people do this again! After all the sleepless nights and when they do cry at the same, they must forget what it was like. lol

This is definitely the best age by far!!
