so yesterday at the peri's office my BP was high for me. normally it is VERY low. i'm talking like 90/70. yesterday it was 136/96 and today it was even a bit higher - i think somewhere around 140/98.
there was some protein in my urine so they sent me for some bloodwork. i have swelling in my feet and legs but that's it.

anyone else have experiences like this? think this is the beginning of pre-eclampsia?
my mom thinks im having the babies this weekend.

    Congratulations on your twins!
I had my legs swollen, high BP, trace of protein here and there since 5 month, so I was put on home monitoring system.
My water broke at 36 week and babies were born perfectly healthy, no NICU.
    I was never told I have pre-eclampsia.
    Good luck!

Hi, I went to the O.B Tuesday and they found a trace of protein in my urine and she said that a trace is (somewhat in words) normal for pregnancy. My BP was low no swelling or anything...but still I was kinda concerned about the trace of protein being that the only other time that happened was when I had a UTI. I noticed that my eating habits has changed to where I have been eating more seasoned food that I once could not keep down.My question for you is have your eating habits changed since you have gotten late in pregnancy? I'm wondering if this may be the reason why BP hikes and the swelling starts to manifest.Because I have been told that those are signs of Pre-E (God forbid that this is your case-I wish you well) high bp,swelling, and the protein in urine-my friend whom had pre-e had all those signs. But the pp also said that she had those signs and it was'nt. So did you notice a change in your eating habits later in pregnancy?

It sounds like you MAY have the beginnings of pre-e. Did they send you for bloodwork?

It really depends on how MUCH protein...you can trace amounts of protein in your urine and it's normal/not an issue...but your BP is worrisome. High BP is officially anything over 140/90...which yours was, but it's REALLY high for you (mine did this with DS...mine is usually like 112/69, so when it got to 141/90, that was a big jump!).

Ask your doc about it. But my guess is that you might be getting it, but only your doctors (and I think bloodtests) will be able to tell you for sure. Thankfully you are far enough along that induction wouldn't be a "big" deal...well, you know what I mean! :)

What you wrote is exactly what happened to me at my last OB visit at 36 weeks. Blood pressure was high for me, mine is always low like you. Since it wasn't in the "high" pre-e range, they weren't concerned. But I still was and I just didn't feel comfortable with them overlooking it. They also mentioned the trace of protein in the urine. I think it was +1 at the time? And my hands and face had swollen, but it was more of a gradual process for me. I don't think the dr. realized how swollen I really was. My family was very concerned the last time they saw me the day before. They just knew I did not look like myself. So because I was so concerned, he gave me the option to do the blood work in the office and get the results the next day, or go to L&D to get checked out and get the results sooner. I chose to go to L&D. My blood work came back with much higher levels of protein than it did at the office visit, and my BP had continued to elevate, so they admitted me and hooked me up to magnesium sulfate. They scheduled my c-section for the next day. But then my contractions progressed and I ended up starting to dialate and was in actual labor. So they did an emergency c-section and called my dr. in at 1 am to do it.

So to me, I think it sounds like your babies may be here very soon! I think if I had gone home that night and gotten the results the next day, I still would have been ok. That's what my doctor seemed to think, but who knows, maybe he was just covering himself. I also think that sometimes with pre-e, the babies just know it's time to get out and that's why I went into labor on my own in the hospital. I also had a friend who's water broke just as she was being diagnosed with pre-e. Just keep an eye out for headaches and any vision disturbances tonight before you get the blood work back. If you exeperience anything like this, I'd go to L&D to get checked out. Congrats on making it this far, and good luck to you!
