Went to the fair for the first time...

It was a big hit! They went nutso over the "petting zoo" (which is really a bunch of goats with a few camelids thrown in the mix). They did very well feeding them carrot slices and petting without grabbing.

We went on the carousel a couple of times (they sat on the horses) and they rode the only children-only train ride there that allowed kids their size. There were lots of rides they would have loved but the height requirement excluded them. Next year.

We were very lucky to arrive right at the start of the circus acts and just in time for the kids' dance at the Pow Wow, both of which they enjoyed thoroughly. I was very proud of how well they behaved and the lack of fear continues to amaze me. They're just such bold little guys. They were SO TIRED when we got home and I'm hoping they sleep in a little.

Hey we went too! Not as big a hit as your trip, however. damperd by the fact that there was an ecoli scare at the fair a few years back when a baby girl lost her life. So, no touching the animals for the little ones yet!

 

Sounds like it was a great day! We're going to our fair on Tuesday (you're brave to go on the weekend)!

I wouldn't at your kids' age either -- not until they can follow directions to not put fingers in the mouth or try to eat the carrot slices. We didn't go to the fair last year because I didn't think there would be anything for them to do. I did notice that they had hand sanitizing stations all over the place this time (and a huge setup by the animal area with lots of signs telling you about the risks) and we used them. I don't remember any of that being there the last time we went... although it's been a few years.

To be perfectly honest, though, I think their "poop parties" at home are riskier than anything we did at the fair.

 

Glad they enjoyed it. My boys can't wait for a fair. They go to at least 2 every year.
