    They're here!!!!!!!!!

Hayden James and Jackson "Jack" Lane were born Feb 15.

They were born on Feb 15 at 1145 and 1147pm at 37 weeks on the nose. It was a whirlwind. We ate at this greasy diner with a friend on Valentine's (her husband went on a ski trip w/o her and we wanted to do something with her without waiting at the usual places which were packed for V-Day). I had 4 b.m's the next day and blamed it on the greasy food. Around supper time, I started cramping really bad and thought I had gas. It was so bad I had chills, quivering lips, and clammy sweaty palms. I called the doctor and asked what kind of medicine I could take. He said "have you talked to your doctor about if she will do your scheduled section if you went into labor earlier and she was not on call?" I was confused. We're talking gas, dude...not c-sections. He told me to come to L &D asap. They were waiting on me...room set up for twins...nurse frantic...and put me on the monitors. The nurse asked me when I noticed the gas pains and I sheepishly pointed to the contraction monitor and said "right before the monitor spikes." I had been induced with my son and experienced very organized and controlled contractions. These things made my whole torso feel insane. They asked if I was ready to meet my babies nad I said "NO...We have people flying in!." They put me on iv fluid and pain meds (liquidate and sedate they said) which would either 1) stop false labor 2) delay early labor or 3)organize real labor. Well, it was option 3, so I had my section that night. My doctor came in even though she was not on call. I thanked her for doing so and she said "I couldn't leave YOU hangin', Mar." The nurses threw a pep rally for me when they came out so healthy..NO NICU! They were saying how great I did and DH told them I was his hero. My doctor told my DH "she's mine, too." It was such a sweet moment and such a sweet experience compared to when my son was born and whisked into NICU with lots of fear and anxiety about his health. They also told me it was a darn shame I had my tubes tied since they were some of the best looking tubes they had ever seen. Whatever that means...why can't my good lookin' parts be on the OUTSIDE [IMG]! Hayden was first at 6 lbs (thick brown hair) and Jack came next at 6lb2oz (thick blond hair). They are sweet. Hayden is the high-strung one, Jack is super chill. Jack has regained to his birth weight already and Hayden has 4 oz to go. We have nicknamed them Action Jackson and the Say-Hay kid. We're dorky, we know. DS LOVES THEM. He calls them "my babies" and is SO good. Not one twinge of jealousy. After a near nervous breakdown over their complete opposite schedules (Jack has to almost be force fed and Hayden cries like a banshee if he doesn't eat like every 2 hours), we've switched to pumping mostly and some direct nursing to have SOME semblance of a schedule and sanity since their feeding habits are as different as their personality and looks. MIL is a BIG HELP and is doing all the cooking, laundry, and cleaning...not to mention shoving food in my face at every turn because I have been having a kind of harder recovery this time and have a bad cold on top of it. It's really nice to have the extra help. Not only have I fallen in love with these little boogers, I have fallen in love with my son Eli all over again seeing how much room he has in his heart for his brothers. Lots of love in the Brown house!

Now for the sucky news: I have only lost like 17 lbs [IMG] Let's hope I am still retaining lots of fluid. My carpal tunnel is worse than ever, so I think maybe so.

Words of advice: this section was much harder to recover from due to either it following a draining twin pregnancy, being the second section I had, or having a tubal with it. Don't be a hero. Let them keep the epidural in you as long as possible post-partum. Take all the pain meds they offer you in hospital. I played the hero because my recovery from my c/s with my son was so great and easy, but after a twin pregnancy your body is very depleted and you need all the help you can get, esp. if you are nursing your babies.

Thanks for all the awesome support during this pregnancy. When I finally regain some sense of routine I will try to post on the bf board or the first years board some.

    Thanks again, y'all!

What a great story!! Way to go! Welcome Hayden and Jackson! I have to say, my carpal tunnel took what seemed like forever to go away, so I feel for you with that. But, it will go away (and eventually the fluid will, too). Enjoy those boys.

Don't feel bad about going to the hospital for gas pains. That's why I went in for David. [IMG] It's great to hear how helpful your MIL is being, I know a lot of us in FY could use a MIL like that!
