Well he said yes it is a milk blister but on top of that i have a staff infection. he gave me rx for clindamycin (as im allergic to peniciilln) and told me to wash with hibbiclense(which i am allergic to as well). I told him i'm allergic tothe hibbaclense (i get hives on affected area) he didn't have another idea; he just said that that is what works best for staff infections.. so now i have hives and a blister and staff infection.. he didn't even remove the blister... sigh... going to call tomorrow and see what to do now about hives .... Kristi- do you know of what else i can wash it with?

Oh no! I'm sorry your doc was not helpful. I don't know anything about this stuff - hope Kristi comes to the rescue! Hope everything clears up soon, and keep us posted! :hug99:

I'm so glad you went in. Hopefully, clearing up the staph infection will help get that blister healed, too.

After my series of blisters over Christmas, an LC diagnosed thrush and as soon as I treated it, I stopped getting blisters. I think the milk blisters are potentially a symptom of a whole array of skin infections, and once you get more than one, it makes sense to start looking for a bigger problem.

A google search turned up only one alternative to Hibicleans, and that was for surgical applications: iodine. But I have NO idea whether iodine would be a good thing to put where babies are eating.

I would just keep the area clean, no need for special cleansers, try and keep the area dry and if its irritated use lanolin.

Boobs arent as sore but still sore. blister is still there wish he woulda taken care of it.. ive tried "massaging it out" like he suggested but its stuck there.
kristi- so just soap and water or how do i "keep it clean" like do i need to wash nipple after every feeding and put on new breastpad? (i dont normally use pads but would that help?)
William is acting fussy.. i hope its not the staff infection and or medicine being passed onto him =(
    thanks for thinkn of me

In reality you should never use soap on your breasts when bfing, it dries them out and can cause soreness. And as most doc's would tell you, you only need to use soap on your stinky parts, and boobs ain't one of them, lol!!! So even using taking a normal shower will keep them clean, keeping the dry should help too. If you don't leak I wouldn't worry about the breast pads.
I would continue with HOT showers, nursing/pumping immediately after and hot compresses before every nursing/pumping.

Hang in there, you are doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
