DH and I go out to eat at least once on his days off. That's just always been our thing. Well, when the babies were really little, they would normally just sleep through it. Then it got to where we could never take them out because they would no longer nap in their infant carriers. We started getting a lot of curb-side to-go meals for our treats. When they started eating Puffs/Cheerios it helped, so we started our weekly tradition again.

Well, last night we went out and since it was during the time I would normally do a solids meal, I ordered from the kids menu! They got mac-n-cheese and mandarin oranges. They loved it! They were laughing and smiling the entire time.

And it helped me realize that they are ready for more table foods than I thought. It really was fun to see them eat kid food.

It was like a whole new world opened up once they could eat from a kids menu! That's great!

How exciting! Hard to believe that just in a few short months, we will be able to do that also!

That is great, I haven't been brave enough to eat out with my girls yet. I have done like you described when they were tiny and would sleep through the meal, but ever since they've been interested in table foods I haven't tried it. Maybe we should do that this weekend!

That is great. I cannot wait to try it. Last weekend we gave them grilled cheese which they gobbled up when it occured to me that we could take them to a restaurant and order for them also.

Yeah! I wouldn't have thought about doing that until you mentioned that. I am so glad you shared. I will have to maybe give that a try if we eat out this weekend.

    Yay for you!

Let me tell you how great it is to go out to eat-with the kids! We've been doing this since they could sit up in the high chairs...once over the summer before they were 9 months old and we go out at least once every other week. The boys do awesome! And it helps having plenty of food on hand! :p

FWIW...We've gone to the 99 restaurant. There-it's only booths. So you take two high chairs, up to the table-and they don't fit. So the kids can't reach the table to grab their food. And A.) you either have to feed it to them, or B.) risk none of it getting in their mouth, but decorating the floor!

So what DH did tonight was he grabbed one of the travel high chairs we had in our car, and he put Anthony in that one, on the booth seat with him, and left Nicholas in the high chair up at the table. It worked out BEAUTIFULLY! And Anthony had his own little tray as well. Give it a try! DH wants to bring those now whenever we go out to eat!
