I was diagnosed with PPD and anxiety about a year or more ago....my doctor put me on 50mg of zoloft a day. It has worked wonders for me....

However, I started working again (as a nurse - 12 hour shifts are awful!) about 5 months ago and I can feel the anxiety and stress (and crying episodes and not sleeping) are creeping up on me again. Also, not to give too much information, but when DH and I have sex it is painful when we first start....I just went to the gynecologist and she said it is totally from me not being able to "relax" that there is nothing wrong with me "down there".....

Well, she wants me to switch to Wellbutrin XL 150mg per day.....she also said it doesn't have the same effects on libido that zoloft does....She also said that I could bump up to 100mg of Zoloft per day if I don't like the Wellbutrin XL....

I know preliminary info on this drug from being a nurse and I have also done internet searches on it, but I would really like to know what people say who are on it or have been on it....

I wasn't sure what forum to post this in, so I am sorry if this is inappropriate for this forum!!! Thanks everyone!!!

[SIZE=12pt]I was on it prior to my pregnancy with the twins. I was on it from May-August. I think it helped but I am not sure my dose was high enough as I got pregnant and never did get a chance to have my dosage changed.
If I could get well and stop being sick :( Im going to the dr for bloodwork and we're going to discuss a med route for me.

I have a list of everything I have been on and wellbutrin ranks up there the most helpful so far.

I was on it as I had issues with my moms death and really struggled with it. It really helped me through some tough times. I have been off it a month now.

I thought it was great. My sister and I were both on it and the biggest complaint that we both had was that it makes your period pretty bad. Mine was heavier than ever. I would bleed through tampons and that had never happened in my life. It lasted much longer. My sister said she got the worst cramps ever on it. The period since I have been off it is back to normal, as is my sisters.

My sister also tried the generic brand and said that one gives you a huge libido...quite the opposite of the regular stuff. I don't have a big libido and have other issues with dh but I kinda forget sex even existed on that stuff!!

Years ago I was on it in college- and it helped a lot. The only side effect was it raised my blood pressure too high (I had to stop taking it) but it was the best think I took for depression/anxiety. Zoloft I took for years and had to take 100-150 for good effect- but it gave me wicked headaches.

Good luck- it can be so hard to find something that works!

Wellbutrin works great for me. It's hard to find the right one for each person. But I've tried many others and Wellbutrin is my answer. If you start it, it may give you a energy boost for 1st wk or 2. Also, it helps with appetite and food cravings!

I've taken it too - and I credit it with saving my sanity (and maybe my life). PPD nearly did me in (I went through MANY other meds before the Welbutrin). I haven't needed it for a few years now, but I watch myself closely and it is always in the back of my mind. I'm due in April, and my DH has already asked me to ask the Dr. for a RX "just in case". There are side effects, but it was the best option for me.

It is my life saver. I am able to function normally without as much anxiety and I don't feel like I'm taking anything. I've been on others and I always felt like I wasn't truly myself. It hasn't affected my sex drive at all . The first few weeks while your body gets used to it, you can get dizzy and jittery, but it goes away. I would highly recommend you try it and see if it is right for you.

It made me suicidal. I now am on Zoloft but have almost everything out there.
