Well, he sleeps all night now

Now he's gotten into the habit of pooping in the middle of the night! He won't fuss anymore cuz he knows we won't come get him - so he sleeps all night (or part of the night anyways) in a dirty diaper....

If anyone remembers, I was having trouble with my 19 month old son waking up every 20 minutes wanting to be held. We finally had enough of it and made him CIO. The first night he only went for 30 minutes, then he quit alltogther. Now, if he fusses at all, it's for literally 2 seconds and he's done, that's it....

Now, we haven't had a problem with him having a nighttime dirty diaper since he was newborn. So all of a sudden he sleeps through the night, but has to go poop in the middle?? WTH???

If he fussed - I'd probably go in to change him, but on the other hand, then we'd still be in that same vicious cycle of waking every 20 minutes and no one sleeping...

He's confusing. I'm HAPPY he's sleeping all night, but I feel bad it's in a dirty diaeper. It's not every night either. Maybe once or twice a week, so it's not like I can sneak in at night and check on him (which I do anyways, and he never stinks when I go in there) becuase it's so random...

if he's not fussing, i wouldn't worry about it - he'll let you know if it's bothering him. if, like my girls though, he gets bad diaper rash from being in a dirty diaper for longer than 2 seconds try slathering on a thick layer of bum cream before putting him down for the night. i find that helps protect my girls backsides when they go through pooping-at-night phases (usually just before cutting a tooth in our house). GL!

I agree with Rachel, if he's not being bothered by it, then I would let him be and I would also put extra diaper cream/petroleum jelly on his butt just in case.

I agree with the PP. You are lucky he's okay being dirty :) My girls are the same but they are very sensitive and It gives them a super bad rash for days. The old school desitin cream (in the tub) is good for those long nights.

There was a period of time that my girls would both wake up dirty from the nighttime and from naptime. I don't know what it was about sleeping that made them poop. I didn't change them unless they really cried and we never had a problem with diaper rashes. I never lathered them up with butt cream before putting them to bed either. But they don't have sensitive skin at all.
