Well, the last thing I expected last Thursday night was to go into labor. My water broke around 11:45 pm and my husband and I arrived at the hospital around 1:00 am on Friday morning. We both nearly broke down when they told us that since we were not quite 32 weeks, they were going to transport us to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. After an hour and a half long, bumpy, and horrible ambulance ride, we arrived at JH around 6 a.m. Contractions were so much worse than I imagined. We went in for a c-section and the babies were delivered at 9:09 and 9:12 a.m. By the way, a spinal is an amazing thing and I recommend it highly! I had no strange side effects or headaches and it relieved my stress greatly. Riley Steven weighed in at 3 lb. 14 oz. and Parker Steven was 4 lb. 6 oz. They are still at Hopkins' NICU and making progress every day. Leaving them behind was so hard, especially since we live about 2 1/2 hours from Baltimore. We are thankful to all be healthy and appreciate your prayers for the journey ahead!

Wow, congrats on the arrival of your darling babies. I'm sorry they are so far away. That must be an incredible challenge. I hope their recovery and discharge comes more quickly than you expect. I'm not sure if you realize how great their weights are. Parker's birth weight is the same as my Mandi's (she was born at 35.3wks!).

    Congrats!!
I just delivered at Hopkins last week. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, I live about 20 minutes from the hospital. Have you looked into staying at the Children's House a block from the hospital? I wish we had more room here I could offer you.
Hang in there and best wishes to you and your boys.
    Nancy

Congratulations!!!! Is there a RMH house nearby? Sounds like Nancy C had a good suggestion, too. I can't wait to see you posting that everyone is reunited at home soon!

Congrats on your little ones... Hope they can come home quickly... I was going to suggest like the pp about looking into a RMH... I had a fellow twin mommy deliver down in philly...about 2.5 hours from her house and that's where they let her stay...it was very reasonable... I think it was like $20 a day....
