DD has been sick for maybe 4 days. A wet-sounding cough at first, then after a day or two, a runny nose too - sometimes clear, but sometimes thick green/yellow stuff. And lately she smells a bit strange, and I think it's the snot. It's definitely not just that morning-breath smell from mouth-breathing.

She hasn't been feverish as far as I can tell without wrestling her down for a temp, and she's just a bit cranky, not miserable. What do you think? Is it worth calling the pedi?

I had horribly stinky breath that accompanied a sinus infection. I'm pretty sure, though, that people get a bit stinky with illness even if there isn't an infection involved. Definitely ought to get a temp, though.

With thick yellow snot? I'd take her in. . .she might be fighting a sinus infection.

I remember hearing from my MIL (so don't know how true it is) is a funky smell is usually the sign of strep.
I would either take her to the pedi, or watch her and if she don't get better take her in.

Well, I called the pedi, and the nurse thought it was worth a visit, so I'm taking her tomorrow morning. I was thinking possible sinus infection too.

Thanks everyone! Now just pray that she'll let me sleep tonight...

Well, the pedi thought it looked like a sinus infection too. We've started abx already. (Good thing she likes the taste!)

I think DS is starting to come down with it too. Sigh... Tis the season...

Oh, the pedi also mentioned that a mom of 6 she knows calls DD's symptoms "Green 11's."

Glad you took her in! Hopefully your son's sickyness won't progress to the infection stage.
