    Hi TS friends,

L has a strange skin thing going on the past few days. (PICTURE) I've been feeding them solids for about 7 weeks. I'm careful to follow the 4 day rule and haven't added anything new in over a week. For 3 days she's had a rash that started as a circle round her belly button and is now all over her tummy and neck. It doesn't seem to bother her, but it is spreading. She has had eczema, but this is not that. We haven't changed soaps. We really can't think of anything. I did recently add seafood back into my diet and it correlates well timing wise but I can't imagine she could have such a strong reaction to something I'm eating (BF ladies??? anyone know). I had shrimp two days in a row and some fabulous fish and chips last night.

Below is a list of foods that they eat and have been eating for weeks:

    Pumpkin
    Sweet potato
    Butternut squash
    Banana
Oatmeal (scottish style, just whole grain oats)
    Applesauce
    Avocado
    Peas
    Carrots
    Pears
    Prunes
    Apricots

    THANKS!!

ETA: three days ago I gave them kiwi in the mesh feeder, but only once and the rash has been spreading more every day.

I have no idea, but I'd put a call into the doctor just in case. Is she acting any differently or is it just a rash? :hug99:

Ouch, poor baby, that just looks sore!

Has she been leaking through her diaper over night at all? One dd, had a horrible leak through her diaper a little while ago and ended up with a rash on her belly, but it didn't look that intense either and the pedi and I determined it was probably from that.

It also looks slightly 'yeasty'? So maybe it's a yeast infection?

I'd probably take her to the pedi, since it's been a few days and it's getting worse :(

ETA: Have you recently changed diapers, or have the diapers changed at all if it's the same brand? Seems to be right around her diaper line only. My girls had a nasty rash only in their diaper area after I tried the BJ's brand of diaper. Stopped using the diapers, rash went away.

I haven't changed diapers or anything. I hadn't thought about the yeast thing...what causes that? I did take antibiotics recently, but I've been off of them for over a week. I also took a lot of acidophilis while taking them.

That doesn't look good. I would go to doctor as soon as possible. It's probably nothing serious but it will require some type of treatment. For the time being, I would put some benadryl cream on that until you can be seen.

Sometimes yeast just happens! It's present on our skin anyway and essentially a yeast infection is just and 'overgrowth' of that normal flora.

But if you were on abx recently, even with you taking the acidophilis, it could still have affected her.

The pedi will probably want you to bring her in, do they have hours today?

Has she been sick? Both of mine had a virus and then 3 days later got a viral rash to go with it. THe dr said ti should clear up in 3-4 days.

I think the seafood in your diet could do it also.

it looks kinda like an allergic type rash, yeast normally shows up in moist areas (diaper area, mouth, underarms, etc). I would give some benedryl and take her in if that doesn't help.

Hmmm, not sure, but I would discontinue anything new, and see your ped. :hug99:

I think it definitely looks like an allergic reaction, probably from the seafood. Hopefully it clears up with some benadryl.

    Good luck!!

I agree with the visit to the ped. I think it looks either yeasty or fungal. Need a script for that too. :hug99:

My first thought was something to do with the diaper since its right where the band for that would sit.
