Hi there. My boys are 7 months today. David is a great natured kid that smiles at everyone as they enter the room, is trying to crawl, just all around happy guy. Adam has reflux and has been on zantac since he was 3 mo old - it seems to be working fairly well. He has never been as happy as David and seems to have this instant "I'm not happy" switch that can go off at any time. Now, he does laugh and can interact with people, but he is just a more "prickly" child.

Is it just a coincidence that he was so unhappy until we discovered and corrected the problem and now is "Prickly"? Does that mean that as he outgrows the reflux he will become a happier kid? I try not to compare the two, but it is really hard.

    Thoughts?

My son had reflux, but is a little more laid back most of the time. But they tend to go back and forth as soon as I think I have them down!

They are just different people and there's no telling what their personalities will be going forward! Sorry...no easy answers!!

both of ours have reflux, but maia's was so bad that she was diagnosed at a couple of weeks old and is being treated with prilosec. she tends to be our more prickly kid, whilst tal her sister (who's on zantac and was diagnosed around 3 months) smiles at anyone and anything.

having said that, they do alternate. if tal's not had enough sleep, is teething or mummy is not close enough she'll be a moaning minny whilst maia is often much more able to get along on her own ...

i do think children often swap around and i try hard not to stick either or my girls in a 'script' or role - the sociable one, the serious one etc. i guess what i'm saying is don't worry ...

Braydon is on Prevacid and has been since 3 weeks old. He's such an easy going baby, happy and smiles ALL the time, and doesn't cry much.

Parker doesn't have reflux, but he's very moody. He's quick to smile and quick to cry. He meltsdown much easier than his brother when he's tired.

Both boys have a dairy sensitivity so I'm on a dairy free diet, but I don't think they have any other food allergies/sensitivities that could be causing Parker to be more cranky. I think it's just how he is. [IMG]

My Jessy had reflux and she has always been my more senistive baby. She is quick to smile at some people but most she doesn't smile at.

Both my boys have reflux, but Joe's is much worse. Personality-wise, he has always been our higher maintenance twin.

In the last 2 weeks he has become an absolutely different kid. We did recently adjust his dosage (he'd been on the same dosage since 6 weeks old), which changed his eating habits dramatically. However, I think his personality changes have to do with getting older, being more aware, and able to do more physically. He's just tickled with himself and is having a ball exploring his world.
