I'm having these weird pains and I'm not sure if they're abnormal or not. The pain starts in my lower back (just like period back pain) then it moves to my belly and there's a tightness in my belly (it doesn't really hurt) just feels like my skin is shrinking. And it's tighter. And I can see some baby parts - like a butt or a head sticking out - so that's the tightness I feel - does that make sense to anyone? They aren't regular or measurable - could they be braxton hicks?
    Thanks!

My contractions often start in my back and work their way around to the belly. It sounds like contractions to me. Braxton Hicks are contractions that just don't change your cervix. I'm surprised you haven't noticed them until now. I've had them a very long time. Hoping for you that they are just BH. Next visit to your DR I would mention it, unless they become regular. Then I would call after hours. Hope that helps.

I have been having BH since about 16 weeks. I have never experienced them in my back except for one time and I ended up in the hospital for 4 days on meds to stop the contactions. Just because they don't hurt does not mean that they are not changing your cervix. If you haven't been having BH yet then you won't really have anything to compare it to. I would call your doctor tomorrow just to be on the safe side, you are kind of at a point where a lot of women start having signs of PTL. It may be absolutly nothing, but it won't hurt to be extra cautious. Keep us posted

I am guessing that they are BH contractions, but if they get more severe and more often you should make your way to l&D so they can monitor you. Let us know....You and I are only 3 days apart, so I hope you can hang in there until the end with me.
Just keep drinking lots of water and try to relax,

they sound like contractions to me - i have had very similar ones. if they get more frequent or painful (like menstrual cramp painful) then please definitely call or go in and get checked out.

if they don't hurt and are fairly infrequent, then i would wait til tomorrow, but rest and hydrate today (unless you're so concerned you need the doc's reassurance - which is a-ok!).
