Weird Contractions

Well the night after I posted … all was well I slept straight through… BUT last night, right when my son and I were in the middle of reading books I noticed I was having a lot of BH contractions, like any were from 6-9 min apart… so I laid down drank water and fell asleep only to be woken at 11:00 PM is so much discomfort I decided… time to go… I had my mom come out and stay with my son, so by the time we headed out it was midnight (luckily no traffic at midnight)… well I got up to L&D and my contractions were 3 min apart and BIG… they gave me a shot of tribu and decided to do a test to see if I was in real labor (it was like a pap smear) so we had to wait for those results… in the mean time they came in and gave me another shot… as I was still having contractions but maybe every 15 min… the test came back ok and I was released at 3:30am… just enough time for my DH to get 2 hours sleep… poor guy
So now I’m taking the day off and I only plan to get up to pick up my son at 3:00… let’s hope that’s the end of THAT

You know, no one said anything (they only said no heavy lifting and pelvic rest :cray: ), and he just called me now to tell me he is giving me an oral ver of tribu to take in case it happens again… but he said he’s only doing it because he trusts me to still go in if things don’t improve quickly… but I’m putting myself on modify bed rest today, and going to post pone my baby shopping this weekend…
He also said that he was very surprised how well I responded to the oral hydration and shots… he said when he heard they were 2 min apart (i thought they were 3) and how strong they were… he thought I would be there for a while… but everything worked out…

 

Wow, that was some night. I'm glad things have calmed down. I think it is a good idea to put yourself on modified bedrest. I had the oral trib. and it made me incredibly hot. Good luck and keep us posted.

 

So scary!!! I know what'cha mean! I spent Wed. night in the ER too!! Same kinda thing- tons of contractions and my Terb wasn't workin. I also had that FFN test which came out negative, thank God, and my cervix hadn't changed. Did they check your length again or no cuz the FFN test was neg? I'm kinda surprised they didn't keep you throughtout the night for monitoring. Did they give you Terb to take at home in case you start having a bunch again?? (I take it every 4 hrs.) Glad you're back home. Take it easy!!

 

Well I end back in L&D around 5 last night… around noon I was having contractions again every 10 min… I gave it until 2:00 drove down to pick up an RX of Trebu and went to pick up my son from school… on the way back from school the contractions faded BUT I was having a sharp pain above my c- section scar… well Friday night traffic in LA starts around 3… so I was home at 3:30, called my Dr (who was at his Dr) and he wanted me to go to the hospital again he was nervous about my cesarean scar could be rupturing … but I was crying (no sleep, hormones and scared were the reason not the pain… and I told him…) but he still wanted me to go. Well I called my husband who was over the hill (and the 405 has been deemed the worst traffic freeway in the nation) he had to take that to get home... and my mom was coming from what takes 40 w/out traffic.. They both pulled up in the drive way at the same time and we went… I got sick, almost threw up… had to sign all this paper work in case we had to go into surgery (some lovely nurse kept “reminding” me that we need to save ME and we will do what we can for the babies…) well another shot of Tredu and monitoring and just laying there completely still for 3 hours made the pain go away and I only had 4 contractions in 4 hours so they sent me home... (plus i think it was a FFN test) came back neg... they said that is 90% effective on predicting no labor for 2 weeks
My lower back is sooo achy right now, and the only cure is to sit up… so I’m gonna do that for an hour and lay back down… I’m on Trebu for 24 hours (one pill every 4 hours) to try to stop the contraction… but if they come back after the 24 hours he wants me back on… I see him on Wednesday….
i am soo tired but cant sleep... plus my hands are shaking and its hard to type...
i hope this is The End...

 

Sounds like you are not having a good time. I have been there too. I hate those meds. Never fun! Just try to drink a ton of water and REST!

 

It sounds like what happened to me. The only thing that made the contractions go away was getting a good rest. Maybe you could take some gravol or something and try to get some sleep. I think it will help you ALOT.

Oh my! Hang in there. You have had such a roller coaster this pregnancy. You deserve some smooth sailing.

I went in at 24 weeks with contractions and then stayed on bedrest for a week. Then I came home and went back to L&D three nights in a row before my OB FINALLY gave me oral terb to take at home. Once I did that, and was on it every four hours, things did start to calm down a bit. I hope that the meds have the same effect for you.

Through all of this, have they checked your cervix? How is your cerclage holding up?

How have you been since Sat.? I can;t believe he hasn't put you on bedrest!!! Such a bummer the Terb affects you like that- I've been really lucky that it doesn't bother me at all. You definately need rest!!! Ask your Doc about some Ambien. I know my hospital gives it a lot to their long term patients. I had it one of the nights I spent in the hospital and slept like a ROCK! Hopefully some good rest will help you in many ways!! Keep us posted!! :hug99:
