    :lazy:
This is the second night in a row… I am woken by a BIG contraction… a strong one that feels like a band around my whole mid section of my body… (Not just my tummy tightening BH contraction with no discomfort.) when the contraction part stops I am left with a low back menstrual cramp feeling… but if I sit up (like I am doing at my computer now) it goes away (weird I know… you would think laying down taking pressure off would stop it)…. They don’t come in a pattern, or very often maybe every 20-40 min… but they are so uncomfortable I can’t sleep.
This happened last night around 4am and I decided to see if I could find a pattern and would wait it out until 6-7am… well I fell asleep around 5:30 and woke up at 6 something and it was gone (the lower menstrual back pain) and I wasn’t having the contraction anymore… so I didn’t call my Dr… I did have a few more BH during the day… at one point for 40 min they were exactly 10 min apart (2:07pm,2:17pm, 2:27pm,2:37pm)… but again that’s technically only 4 contraction an hour… so I didn’t call.
So here I am again at 2am wondering what these are all about… and why does it happen at these crazy wee hours of the morning… any one up with insight?

Here's why I'd call my Dr - looks like you are only 24 weeks. Sounds within the "normal" tolerance range of contractions, but have a Dr tell you that first - its too early to mess around!

I had the same thing when I was pregnant! I was on hosptial bedrest and would only contract at night for some reason. Weird! I hope you feel better.

I was up at 4am last night when contractions started, too! It was the first time they awakened me. I drank a big glass of water, and they stopped after about 30 minutes. I wonder if limiting water intake in the evenings is not a good idea with twins? I'd rather go to the bathroom every hour that to have to wake up with contractions every night!

I had that happen at 24 weeks also. My Dh ended up making me go to the hospital. They gave me an Iv which seem to stop them and sent me home. I think I drink enough water so I''m not sure why that happened either..but it hasn't happened since.

Could it be that the babies are more active at night (as mine always were), and thereby irritating your uterus to contract?

    Thanks Everyone :love0028: …
Well it is true they are swimming in there when all this happens… AND usually for my BH if I drink a boat load of water they go away… BUT these are not BH… or no BH I have ever had before… I decided to just call my Dr so he can tell me it’s normal and next time I don’t have to stress at 2am… he didn’t though, he said if it happen again, go to the hospital, he doesn’t like that it has happened 2 nights in row… and though they stop in the AM maybe the next time they won’t and it’s better to go to the hospital to be monitored for no reason then it being too late to do anything… he said they will probably give me a shot and send me on my way… so I gave my mom the heads up to keep her phone by her bed tonight…

Thanks everyone… I never had anything like this with my son… and I was on tribu every 4 hours, bed ridden and on home monitoring by 24 w with him…

I had painless contrax that dilated me (but I've always been able to hold out until fullterm), but I did end up on bedrest diagnosed with preterm labor during one pregnancy.

BH aren't always BH. . . that's a misnomer. Painless contrax can dilate the cervix. To be on the safe side, I would let my doc know so they could check for dilation just in case.

    Do take care!

I would call just to be on the safe side.

I am 28 weeks, and I have tons of "weird" contractions. Many are like you described. I called my Dr. because of the associated pain and frequency (I got caught in the mall one day unable to walk they were so bad, very scary!). I had an appt. the next day so she checked everything out and all is well, she said it's just one of the joys of having twins.

I like your doctor! That is good! I just hope now that you do not have to take him up on his offer!

It's good that you called. You never know and having it be so early I wouldn't play around. I hope you don't have to go in tonight. Good luck.

I'm glad you callesd him too!! You can never be too safe, especially as early as were are! What concerns me is the lower back back pain you're having. I hope it all stops and you don't have to go into the hospital. Keep us posted! ;)

My doctor told me around 17 weeks to stop having sex - If I did not want to go into PTL. So its been awhile....anyhow..she said that the sperm has a PTL pre-cursor, and so since I have a high risk pregnancy to stop that altogether - and no orgasms either - not just sex....even other stuff....darn it!

Don't know if that could be a cause or not - only you would know....but also I was told to drink water constantly....which I do. Just a suggestion.

    HMMMMM

Well maybe that was it… I had no drama last night… I hope not, I couldn’t imagine going 3 months with no lovin… and I know it will be more than 3 months because when I BF I had no drive… nothing… men could have fallen off the face of the earth and I could have cared…

Thanks for the tips... i hope thats not the reason though...
