First time user here. I have a question about weight gain, or lack of it. I am 22 weeks 2 days and although my belly is huge (boy girl twins) and firm and the babies are kicking quite a bit now I have not gained a single ounce! I love and trust my docs and my maternal fetal specialist and they aren't at all concerned, but I can't stop worrying that I need to gain some weight. I'm eating healthy and have lots of good fat and protein in my diet but I feel nauseous after a few bites and have to stop. Luckily I'm not vomiting. I've had several U/S and they've all looked good. Has anyone else experience little to no weight gain this far into their pregnancy?

I'm nearly 27 weeks and I've only gained 10 lbs. Two of those were in the last two weeks and I worked really hard to get them. I've been drinking two Boost High Protein shakes a day and I switched to whole milk. I thought with Thanksgiving I'd really pack it on, but no luck. I was actually a half pound lighter the day after Thanksgiving. My doctors say I'm doing o.k. and not to stress about it. They say just keep eating as much as I can. I can't eat very much at meal times either and find I have to graze throughout the day to get any amount of food.

I've had the same worry. I'm almost 33 weeks, and it seems that I either don't gain weight between visits or only gain a pound or two. Paradoxically, my belly is getting huge! I don't know how this is possible!

I asked my doctor about it, and he said that the main thing is to check on how the babies are growing. If they are gaining weight, then all is well. My twins were actually in the 80th percentile for growth, so everything seems to be fine. If you're worried, just ask. You might want to ask when your next growth scan is to put your mind at ease.

I'm thinking that twins require so much that they're probably just taking everything. With my singleton pregnancy, I got chubby in my face and limbs. This time, though, I feel like a skinny girl with a big belly in front. I think they're taking my fat resources, haha. Don't know if this helps, but I think that this is part of the balance. Try not to worry and keep doing your best!

I was the same way at first. But once I hit 32-33weeks, I started gaining more. As long as the babies are growing as they should and you are eating healthy, try not to worry. (I know- a lot easier said than done!!) I'm sure you'll started gaining soon enough!

I had the same problem. I delivered my b/g twins 11 days ago and I had only gained 17 lbs at almost 37 weeks. My girl weighed 4lbs 14 oz and my boy 4lbs 6oz. Both were completely perfect. No NICU time and both had 9 on their APGAR. I was tiny my whole pregnancy. Some people don't gain weight. I had to go on bed rest for a month and a half to gain weight and up my calorie intake. I got to where I could only eat a few bites a meal. Trust your doctors. As long as the ultrasounds look good then all is well. I had IUGR with both my pregnancies but by the end I had 3 wonderful healthy babies.

I am 36 weeks and have gained 20 lbs.

I gained 4/5 lbs the first six weeks.
I gained 4/5 lbs from week 12 to week 30 or so

The rest came since then (so quickly). My babies are both around 5.5lbs, so no one is worried at all, and I have probably only put on 5 non baby related lbs, and they are doing fine and I am expecting to get my cerclage out tomorrow and deliver them in the next few days.

    I'm 18 weeks today. I have lost 12 lbs, gained only 2, so I'm still at a 10lb loss.
    Giant belly here as well!

I didn't gain any weight until three-four weeks ago. All of a sudden my belly grew and the scales jumped. So far... 12 lbs. I couldn't eat in the 1st tri. Drs. told me that as long as the bambinos are growing not to worry too much about me.

I didn't gain weight till I was 20+ weeks along. I'm still only 25lbs up at almost 33 weeks. I've gained 5lbs each week the past 4 weeks. As long as the babies are gaining like they should, then there really isn't much to worry about.

When I am pregnant, I lose weight the entire time (I eat like a cow, I do not have morning sickness, I do not diet).......I eat and drink everything I want (I do not drink alcohol ever, so that has not changed).

When I was pregnant with my twins (babies #6 & #7), I lost weight the entire pregnancy and shortly after their birth, I was weighed and I was 27 pounds lighter that I was at my first OB appt for that pregnancy.

My boys were born at 36 weeks exactly (due to pre-e) and they weighed 5lbs 8oz and 6lbs 10.5oz

    hi, congrats on the twins,

i , too, have not gained a whole lot. I lost almost 10pounds (5kg) when i was first preg from morning sicness, then gradually made my way back to pre preg weight, and then gained no more until about 18 weeks i think. i am 23 wks now and have only gained a total of 10 pounds...but my dr said not to worry as the scans are showing my babies are on track. having a growth scan next week will put my mind at ease again.

i agree with pp they take what they need from you and sometimes you arent left with much to put into your own reserves.

We didn't know that we were having twins until week 20. At that time I was up about 8 pounds & I'm technically underweight. Once we found out, I started to eat everything full-fat. The weight came!
    Great luck to you,
