Weight of placenta and fluid?

Anyone know what the average placenta weighs close to birth? What about the fluid in each babies sac? I am wondering how much of my weight gain is the "stuff" that I will lose after birth. My babies are over 5 lbs each, so I know at the 10 of these lbs are accounted for!

 

Here is the approximations that I was given:
Placenta: 1.5 lbs a piece
Amniotic fluid: 2 lbs
Uterine enlargement: 2 lbs
Maternal breast tissue: 2 lbs
Maternal blood volume: 4 lbs
Fluids in maternal tissue: 4 lbs

Knowing this makes the number on the scale less scary

 

Baby = 7–8 pounds
Placenta = 1–2 pounds
Amniotic fluid = 2 pounds
Uterus = 2 pounds
Maternal breast tissue = 2 pounds
Maternal blood = 4 pounds
Fluids in maternal tissue = 4 pounds
Maternal fat and nutrient stores = 7 pounds

I got the same as the above poster pretty much. :good: I tried to look for exact info for twins but couldn't find anything.

 

But you want to know something depressing? I had 13 pounds of baby...but when I weighed myself a few days later...I was only down SIX pounds!!! Luckily, it was just swelling and I'm now down 25 pounds and I'm only 12 days postpartum...but it was quite the eye opener!!!

 

I'm not sure about averages but my twins were over 13lbs (6lb12oz and 6lb13oz) and the placentas were about 5lbs. I delivered at 37w6d. I had a c-section and I lost 40lbs in under 3 weeks (I haven't really lost anything since though )

i've only gained about 18 pounds in this pregnancy (yes i know i suck) so that means i'll weigh less once the babies are born! that happens with every pg i have however, i end up getting some of it back, i'm hoping i don't get all of it back!
