My OB said he doesn't care what I eat as long as things stay down. Right now I am 11 weeks and have lost three pounds
But my nausea is starting to let up and I was wondering how much I'm supposed to gain with twins. I am overweight to begin with- in the past with singletons they've told me 15-20 lbs.
I plan on asking my MFM next week, but I'm just curious as to what everyone else has been told :)
I've read protein is very important as well

My ob guessed I would gain close to 50 lbs with twins. I am overweight and gained only 27 with my dd so then he revised it to probably 40 lbs or so.

Right now at 30 wks I've only gained about 22 so I'm happy with that, I'm shooting for less than 35 but of course am not dieting at all, just eating when I'm hungry. So far, at my last ultrasound the babies were in the 61% and 64% growth rate so they are doing fine :)

3. I just had my first nurse visit, and the nurse told me that 45lbs is normal for a twin pregnancy...and I too am a little overweight. 45lbs scares the crap outta me! I will be at my heaviest ever! But I guess considering there will be 2 in there instead of 1. I gained 25-30 lbs with my DD.

When I went in for my u/s at 7 wks at my ob, I had gained 4 lbs, then I went back this past Friday at 9 1/2 weeks and have lost 3 lbs. So I've tech. only gained 1 lb so far, but I had to break out the maternity pants yesterday for comfort!

I had only gained about 10lbs by 24 weeks, but ended up gaining 47 by delivery. I had lost in the beginning as well due to severe morning(all day) sickness.

I weighed 150 when I got pregnant with my twins - 203 the day I delivered, the day I left the hospital I was 176 and 3 weeks later 135.

My OB doesn't want me to gain anything until 12 weeks and after that 1lb a week. ( I started overweighted (60lb))
I am 13week and I gain 2 lbs so far.

My OB said to aim for 35ish pounds. He said he wouldn't yell at me if I gained more because it becomes really hard and would be hungry alot.
I think I'm going to end up around 40 pound gain but we'll see.

MY ob has never told me a no. and in fact she does not tell me at all what I've gained unless I ask - I take that as a sign she is not concerned *yet* haha. I am 29 weeks and I am up 26.5 lbs. I was neither over weight or small when I started.

I was 148lbs when i got pregnant, 187lbs 4 days before c-section (had pre-e and gained 21lbs of fluid in the next for days, so I weighed 208lbs when I had them) and was 155lbs 2 wks after delivery.

I was pretty overweight when I got pregnant and had just lost 25 lbs... (bleh, it was tough too!) My docs said to gain about 35 lbs or so. I don't know how I did it but at 25 wks I'd gained 25 lbs which they said was perfect. Now the weight gain has tapered off though. I just can't eat as much anymore. My crazy sister just had a little boy (1 little boy) and gained 70 lbs. Just don't do that!

I began overweight also and the first trimester the OB told me to only gain 1/2 a pound a week. Now I'm 20 weeks and 4 days and so far I have only gained 8 pounds. But the babies are doing great so far. I think they are eating all my fat stores. LOL. I think if your OB is ok with your weight than I wouldn't worry too much.

I gained 23 pounds during my pregnancy. I started out average. Both babies were over 6 pounds when they were born. I was back at my pre-pregnancy weight a week later. That doesn't mean that my body was/is the same though. Don't worry about weight- if you eat healthy for the most part any weight gain is healthy and will come off quickly.

That has been a concern of mine from the beginning. I haven't asked my doctor and so far he hasn't said anything to me about it. The most I ever gained was with my son (#4 pregnancy) and that was only 20lbs and he was 7lbs 7oz. With my last baby I only gained 8lbs and she was 6lbs 6oz. I read the book When you are expecting twins, triplets...etc.. and it says for my height and weight I should gain between 40-50lbs.. I am just not sure I can do that. I mean I can't gain weight on my own anyway.. (guess I have a high metabolism) I am 5ft 1" and I weighed 127 pre-pregnant I now only weigh 130 per my last appointment. I want to gain the weight for the babies. I want term babies with good weight so we have no NICU time. I just can't imagine trying to put on 40-50lbs. I am trying to eat all that the book said to and eat like it said nearly every 2 hours.. But sometimes I am just too queasy still.
