In the last week, I have definitely put on more weight in my "backside" and legs than in my belly. I know exactly what is responsible...home-made carrot cake! I've had a little too much for dessert each night :p I'm wondering if I drop the dessert obsession and start eating a bit better, will the saddle-bags shrink a bit?? I've been feeling good and strong about putting on weight...now I'm a little disgusted with myself  Any thoughts or encouragement? I really want to enjoy this first (and last?) pregnancy and don't want food/weight issues to be center stage.

    Thanks :)

Eat up now because a lot of us have a hard time gaining weight / keeping weight on in the 3rd trimester. I am now below the recommended weight gain guidelines because I've been losing weight the past few weeks. So don't feel guilty about indulging in deserts! Hope this is the kind of encouragement you are looking for :)

I agree. I felt bad that I had gained 25 lbs by 20 weeks, but my total pg gain was 35 lbs since it was so hard to gain in the 3rd tri.

Funny, I was posting the same topic at the same time as this poster.

Anyway, why is it so hard to gain weight in the 3rd trimester??

I've been having a lot of trouble digesting food because I am running out of space in my abdomen. And even when I am hungry, I just don't think I am taking in enough calories. My Peri is closely watching my girls' weights but so far the weight loss does not seem to be affecting their growth. So my belly is still getting bigger but everything else is getting smaller.

just wanted to say dont feel too bad, and with a lil hard work everything (we hope!!!) will come off. just keep thinking about those babies, and try to eat healthy. i say this as i munch on cheetos :) lol ive been struggling with feeling "fat" as well, definatly been gaining in the thigh/butt area as well, never had a booty this big, nor thighs as big as they are. lol as of this morning i have put on 25lbs, and ive got a LONG way to go, and many more pounds to add. i figure im gonna try to eat healthier, maybe yogurt with the lil oreo bits in it instead of icecream...and limit myself to fast food as a treat say...once a week hehe. anyhow, youre not alone is what ive been trying to get at :)

It can be hard to see our bodies change this way. It is all worth it though. I say don't go nuts with the eating, but don't deprive yourself either. As I said on another post- everybody is different. Some people only gain anything in their belly, while others seem to get bigger everywhere. We just need to embrace it, right?
