How much weight should you gain in the first and second trimester? I am 17 weeks or so and have gained maybe five pounds. Is that okay? I just feel so small this pregnancy and was wondering how you ladies were faring. Thanks. Joy

I honestly don't know how much I gained but I can tell you I was MUCH smaller than when I was pg with the boys. Samething now, although Im' apparently measuring ahead for asingleton pregnancy. i think I've gained about 25 lbs so far, but my scale at home is a bit off.

I didn't gain anything the first 17 or 18 weeks, and now at 38 weeks I've finally leveled off at 31lbs!!...so you are doing fine. Incidentally, I gained 31lbs with my twins...so I know for sure this is not all baby weight!! LOL! I was getting nervous when it went up to 32 lbs last week..but this week it was back at 31, so I think I've officially levelled off. Hallelujah!!

At my last appointment at 23 weeks, I had gained 6 pounds total. I've been trying to keep track here at home and as of this morning it still doesn't look like I've gained any more than that. I'll find out for sure next Tuesday at my appointment.

I only gained 16 pounds during my twin pregnancy but I was 50 pounds heavier when I got pg with them than I was this time. My midwife doesn't seem concerned about my slow weight gain though.

I've actually lost 4 pounds. I had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago and I haven't regained that weight yet. By no means am I about to blow away from a strong breeze! ;) I did post yesterday that I've been so hungry lately, so I think the 4 pounds are headed back pretty soon.

This pregnancy is much slower on the weight gain than the other 2. With the twin pregnancy, I think I gained 12 lbs in just the second month alone. This time around, I am eating like a hog (literally), and have gained 7 lbs. An I am usually the type of person who gains weight just LOOKING at food. As we speak, I just finished a cheese sandwich with pickles. I am still hungry and may be going back for a 2nd sandwich with more pickles. And I eat like this ALL the time. It will probably catch up with me in the end, but with my other pregnancies, I gained in the beginning and slowed towards the end. I guess we will see in a few months.

I have no idea how much is a "good" amount to have gained. I am almost 12 weeks and have gained 4 pounds. I keep loosing and gaining a pound depends on if its a good couple of days or a bad couple. I know I gained alot the first 2 trmesters with my girls and then i stopped gaining. I think I am doing good by only gaining 4 pounds but I will see what my Dr says next week.

Hmm.. I gained too much between two of my last appts. but there were 6 weeks between them! Total, I have gained 10 lbs I think. Probably not good, but that is that.
