I am 24 weeks with twin boys. I was wondering how much weight gain is too much? Between the 20 week visit and this one (4 weeks later), I gained 9 pounds. This is a huge jump and overall I have probably gained ~30 pounds. The doctor just said don't over indulge, which I don't. She also said I could see a nurtritionist. She seemed not too concerned, but I am. And here I was worrying about not gaining weight :)

Everyone is different - as long as your doctor isn't concerned I wouldn't be either. I was worried early on - because I figured I would be bigger - but I have only gained 30 lbs. so far - and I am almost done. The doctor basically told me that as long as the babies are growing okay - then your weight gain doesn't make much difference. My friend had twins in December and gained 60 lbs. throughout her pregnancy - and her doctors weren't concerned either. It is just different for everyone.

Until I was 21 weeks, I gained no weight. I actually lost 6 pounds. Now, 10 weeks later, I have gained 25. I was really concerned about not gaining enough weight in the beginning, but now it's coming on rather nicely. Don't stress about it too much as long as those babies are growing nice and big! Good luck!!!

My weight gain seems to be about a pound per week. I've gained about 20 so far and the docs aren't worried at all. I think if you're eating well (healthy) then whatever you gain should be ok. I had a hard time packing on any pounds last time and this time wow it's surprising that I'm gaining steadily. Everyone and even each pregnancy is so different. Good luck!

I will be 24 weeks on Friday.. I started out at 115 and currently weigh 128, so I've only gained 13 pounds. I feel like my belly is huge, but then again I'm only 4'11. So far the only area I see weight gain is the belly. My arms and legs seemed to have lost weight. I had an ultrasound on June 2nd and baby A weighed 13 ounces, baby B weighed 14 ounces. They said they were fine. I have another ultrasound on July 1st so we will see how much bigger they've gotten! I do see my peri every week, so I know my weight gain every week, only know the babies every 4 weeks.

Jo, I am exactly the same as you. I am exactly 5'0 and I have only gained about the same amount of weight as you and my babies were similar weights to yours at 22 weeks. Wish I started out at the same weight as you though!!

I have always maintained about 110-115 pre-pregnancy, but about 6 months before I got pregnant, I had gotten up to 125lbs. I was determined to lose the weight and I always told my husband that before I ever got pregnant I had to be back at my good weight lol. Sure enough I got back to 110 (on my home scale, 115 on the doctors scales.. haha I like my scale better, I always weigh about 5lbs less by it ;) ) and a couple weeks later I was telling him I was pregnant!

I am in the exact same boat, at my last visit I gained 10lbs in a month, I am in shock. My OB is not concerned she said that during that time they see a huge jump in the weight gain and twin growth. I am huge at my 20 week visit I was measuring 6 weeks ahead, at my last 24 week I am measuring 32 weeks  But she said that they don't want me gaining 10lbs each month, and I don't either so I am just taking it easy on sweets, chips and ice cream ;)

everyone is different just like ppl have said and if your doctor isn't worried you shouldn't be either!

i gained 14lbs in the first trimester, about 15lbs in the second and at 30 weeks i am sitting at a total gain of 40lbs......so go figure. i'm pretty much all belly but i think this recent burst of weight gain is in water retention because i'm noticing that my legs are swelling a little, they've definetly gotten bigger though that's for sure! LOL

but yeah, your body will gain what it needs to for the pregnancy to sustain itself.

I'm at about 30lb now at 28wks - and the babes are good sized (65th percentile) so I agree - everyone is totally different.

Every one is different. Some weeks I lost, stayed the same, gained a pound, sometimes more. In the end, I gained a total of 25 lbs. I measured 47 weeks. Had the babies at 37 weeks, 6.3 and 6.13 were their weights. hope that helps you out!

I'm not gonna say how much weight I've gained b/c it is A LOT! lol. I talked to my doctor about it and we went over what I was eating and she said she just thinks that's how my body responds to pregnancy. I gained a lot with my other pregnancies too and lost it all within the first six months. Everybody's body is different. Just eat as healthy as you can and try not to worry about the numbers.

I rarely ever post but I went to the doctor today and I was wondering about weight gain also. I am 5'9, 27 y/o and 32 weeks along. I was 138 lbs pre-pregnancy and I've gained 32 lbs. Hope this is ok. For my si ngleton pregnancy, I had gained 60 lgs and was able to lose it all, but caused me to be very concious of what I eat this time around. I figure the last thing I need after the babies come is low self esteem...

Ive only gained 11 lbs so far but the doctors are not concerned. They said as long as the babies are growing properly, which they are, theres nothing to be worried about.

I gained 70 lbs during my pregnancy. Some might say it was too much (my OB wasn't crazy about it), but the alternative would have been to not eat when my body was screaming at me to eat. I gained it at a pretty even rate throughout pregnancy -- about 2 lbs a week (starting at week 4), plus a few extra. :D

The weight came off within a year after the girls were born, and I actually weigh less now than I did before. It left me with stretch marks on my thighs that I don't care about, and horrible twin skin that I hate, but might well have gotten even if I'd gained less weight.

I think some books say 35-45 lbs total gain for twins but my doc says 40-60! I think it's all about the babies, don't worry!
