    Hello everyone,
I hope all is well with everyone. Well, the doctor told me on Tuesday that we are having twin girls, which I found rare since they are fraternal. Either way we are excited and anxious. I am 23 weeks now and my belly is huge. I know the books say for a twin pregnancy we should gain between 35 and 45 pounds. And gain at a rate of 1.5 pounds a week in the second and third trimester.
I have been gaining a little more than that, although my total weight so far has only been 29 pounds, and it's all belly. I was wondering if any of you could help ease my nerves by letting me know if this is okay. Should I be gaining less, since some weeks I put on 3 pounds and others 1.5??
Also, my fiance has read that when you first bring the babies home you shouldn't use wipes but cotton balls instead. Does anyone have any information on this??
    Thanks so much

Once I hit 20 weeks, I tried to follow Dr. Luke's recommendation of at least 2 pounds a week. I would just mention your weight gain to your OB the next time. I bet they will be okay with that because your weight gain will fluctuate as time goes on.

When we first brought all of our kids home, we just used a wet washcloth to clean the area. HTH! GL on the rest of your pregnancy and congrats on your GIRLS!!!

:woohoo: Congratulations on your girls!!!! I think your weight gain sounds fairly normal, but I would definately talk to your doctor about it to have him ease your mind. :good: I'm sure if they are concerned, they'll discuss it with you.

We used wipes (the gentle kind) and washclothes to wipe them.

    Congrats on the girls!

As long as your babies are growing well, i wouldn't be too concerned about weight. I've only gained 12-15 lbs (spent the last 2 weeks going back and forth) and will be 25 weeks tuesday, but both boys are nice and big so my dr isnt worried.

As far as wiping when you bring your girls home, i used the gentle wipes at first with my kids and at the hospital it was soft gauze that they had to use. I think the key to remember with whatever you use is to be careful with lil girls (always wipe front to back, dont wipe more than you need to, and be careful when wiping certain sensitive areas).

I stopped looking at the scale two months ago! And I have the doctor's office hide it from me. Seriously. I'm not going to get myself all worked up about it. I'm 28 weeks... probably up 30-40lbs. I don't know. I'm guessing. It was just too much for me seeing the scale go up like that...especially since I lost 40 lbs before getting pregnant. I don't need the added stress. I'll worry about it when I can actually do something about it (after the babies are born and I can hit the gym)

I guess it all depends because I just came back from the doctor and didn't gain any this month. I have gained a total of like 5lbs and he wasn't concerned. He said the total weight gain is whats important. I am very thin (5'5" & 116lbs prepregnancy) so he said if I gain 25lbs total, that would probably be good for me because I was concerned. With our son I gaind 25lbs total and he was 8'2oz & 22in long so I think I will gain more then 25 with the twins. I had an amnio done thursday 5/7th and they are both measuring great and doing well.

My pre-pregnancy weight was 112 lbs at 5"5. I am 34 weeks tomorrow and weigh about 173. I eat healthy, I'm vegetarian and don't eat alot of sweets or stuff my face all day long either, I couldn't figure out how I was gaining so much weight, one week I would gain 1 pound the next I would gain 5 pounds, the doctors told me my weight gain was fine and to stop worrying. The doctor said "I can look at you right now and tell you your weight is fine. Everyone tells me I'm all belly and half the people who ask me if I am having a boy or girl are shocked I'm having twins. Every body is different, don't worry about the weight gain as long as you eat healthy thats all that matters. Remember, you can always lose the weight after they are born, its not permanent. :D

I've gained 35 lbs and I'm only 25 weeks. I didn't have any sickness in the beginning. I jumped right into eating all the time. My doctor isn't worried about it so I'm not worried. Pre-pregnancy I was 130 and 5'11.

I am 34 weeks and have gained about 34lbs. I had a very strange fluctuation of weight gain...some weeks, nothing and then I would gain 5 or 6 lbs in a few days...everyone is different and it's tough to determine what is the best gain. I'm sure your doc will let you know if there are any issues. PLUS, it's soo different for everyone afterwards....how long it takes you to lose the weight (depends on breastfeeding, etc).

At my 23 week appointment earlier this week, I had gained 10 pounds total - Baby A weighing 1 lb 4 oz and Baby B weighing 1 lb 7 oz.
