    hello everyone,
i know it's been a while since I've been on it's been crazy at work. Everything is going good so far. I am just starting 18 weeks and go for my next ultrasound this Monday and hopefully we will find out the sexes. I read that for twins you are suppose to gain 1 1/2 - 2 pounds a week in the second trimester. Can anyone tell me how much weight I should be gaining?
The last couple weeks I've gained 2.4 pounds a week and was wondering if that's too much. However, I am eating non stop and hungry all the time. Any information would be great. Thank you.

Since everyone and every situation is unique when it comes to twin pregnancy, I think the best thing to do is to discuss this with your Dr and see what he/she thinks you should be doing when it comes to weight gain. Good Luck!!

I agree with the PP. I had horrendous morning sickness throughout the first trimester and barely put on any weight. I talked to my OB and she did not seem concerned due to how well the babies were growing. As soon as I hit the second trimester, I started putting on weight and things have been pretty good in that area. So definitely talk to your doc and see what they say! I've noticed with my OB, if she doesnt bring it up, it isn't a concern to her -it was a concern to me, so she told me and assured me not to worry.

I agree. Personally, my doc thinks it is unhealthy to have a specific # to focus on (and I agree). It's not about gaining a specific amount of weight but creating healthy babies. Just eat healthy, small frequent meals and as time passes, the doc will let you know if you need to eat more or less.

2.4lbs in one week is NOTHING. during the first trimester i put on a whopping 6lbs in one week. i think you are fine!

Your doctor can give you some guidelines. When I asked mine he gave a number but said he wasn't really concerned as long as I hit that minimally. He flat out said "I won't get mad at you if you gain more." He basically told me it's hard not to gain weight with twins bc you will go through periods where you are starving all the time.

I've gained about 50 pounds and gained nothing in first trimester. It definitely has gone in spurts - some weeks I gained nothing and then - bam - up four/five pounds. It really correlated with their growth spurts IMO.

I actually lost weight my first trimester, and as of week 31 I had only gained a total of 19 lbs. The Dr. said not to worry, but I worried since I heard that most women gain about 1.5-2 lbs a week in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. They said not to worry, that as long as your belly is growing and your eating, you should be fine. My sister gained about 45 lbs with her twin pregnancy and she was fine. Everyone is different and everyone's body will do a different thing

I'm 29 weeks and I've gained nothing!! I'm actually 4 pounds lighter than when I first became pregnant. The babies are growing really good together thier seven pounds each! So I wouldnt worry at all if the babies are growing good.

I was told to gain between 35 and 45 lbs when we first found out we were PG. I eat all the time, and have only gained 8 lbs this whole pregnancy. I'm trying and trying, I tell them at every appt! I'm 30 weeks this week and as of 3 weeks ago, the babies were growing great! I'm overweight to begin with (5'8" and was 190's before PG).

I say as long as the babies are growing, not to be concerned!!!

I am glad to hear about the growth spurts. It seems one month I will gain minimally (2 lbs) and the next I will seem to put on 6lbs. When I was pregnant with 1, it was a slow constant gain starting in second trimester.
