My girls will be turning one in a few weeks, back in November I took them for a check up and one of them weighed 18.5lb. Took her in again in Jan and her weight was the same and they said they would keep an eye on her. I weighed her again at home yesterday and her weight was still 18.5lb.

Has anyone else experienced no weight gain or lack off ? She is a really good eater when it comes to food, I try and give her extra bottles in the day with milk in as she just has no interest in drinking. I think she drinks about 20oz a day.

Can anyone offer any advice ?

Her twin has gained about 1.5lb since November.

    Thanks

My oldest dd was and still is like that. She is 9 and a whopping 49 lbs. When she was little from about 1y til she was about 5 she drank a pediasure or 2 a day. She went from being in the 5th%tile to falling off the chart then back to the 5th to back off the chart. Our ped was not to concerned because she was active and healthy otherwise. She still is. In fact she has weighed 49 lbs for the last year or so. well 48.5 and at last appointment she was 49! We may get to 50 one of these days. Ask your ped about pedisure. My dd LOVED the chocolate but they also have vanilla and strawberry. If you have trouble getting her to drink it maybe try a special pediasure only cup. Something really fun that she can only use if she is drinking her "big girl" drink.

Oh my dd is like that. Since their 9 wcu she gained 2 oz. She doesn't eat much solid but drinks 29-32oz/ day. From 6 mo to now she dropped from 50%-20% of weight but gained 50%-95% of height (if adjusted age she's over100% height) she's always active heAlthy and happy. So as long as you kids are healthy active happy eat poop pee enough you don't have to worry though. I know it's hard,

Oh our pedi is in favor of healthy and normal side or skinny kids. She says it's better for them in the future !!! She says that they only need to gain 1 lb/3 months. Keep that on mind. Don't worry too much. some kids are just skinny no matter how much they eat. Hugs!

Scales can be off in weight, so she really needs to be weighed on the same scale (not your home scale, sorry) wearing similar clothes (or just a diaper or no diaper). Even if it has been calibrated recently the amounts can be off.

Is she walking yet? About to walk? You can go to the cdc's website and look for birth to 36 month growth charts and plot her age (or adjusted age) and weights and see where she falls on the curve.

Is she still eating baby food? I had the same problem with my girls, Lily in particular. She only gained 4 lbs total between 4 and 12 months. At 12 months old she was only 16 lbs. I was having the same problem as you, they were getting less and less interested in bottles and baby food is not high in calories. Once I switched them to real food and got them off baby food they gained weight. Also, instead of switching to whole milk at 12 months I gave them both pediasure for the extra calories.

My girl is now with a feeding specialist due to low weight. She's 1, almost 1 adjusted also.feeding doc suggested whole milk with scoop of formula per 4 oz milk because less sugar than pediasure and whole milk is fatty. Doc wants to see gains, but is happy girl is active, hitting all milestones.try avacado and add a bit of olive oil to everything, these tricks seem to help. :)

Both my boys were below 20lbs at 1yr. They were following their growth curve and that's what our dr. found important. When we did the switch to whole milk, we added 1 pk of Carnation instant breakfast (vanilla) to each cup. It helped them transition to milk AND kept them gaining. I agree with Aimee in that my boys started gaining more with "real" solid foods. They were more active though too. We always tried to give the boys the healthiest fats we could. That meant a lot of avocados! Our Dr. also told us to add butter to everything.

Don't worry yet. As long as she isn't losing weight, there should be too much concern. :friends:

Thanks for all your replies. I know that there would be a difference on my scales at home. But at home she was dressed and at the peds office they only weighed them in the diaper...so I know she really hasnt gained much. I guess I will see what the doctor says when I take them in for there one year check up and I will also ask about the pedisure. Thanks again !
