    Hey MOMS(Moms Of Multiples)..

Am finding this forum very informative & very active with quick responses. Thank you all ladies, i need ur suggestions all the time:)

BTW, am now 21 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins (boy/girl). They are doing great so far with normal heart beat and active movements. After last u/s doc scheduled me for another ultrasound with a Perinatologist, as baby girl had less fluid compared with the boy. Perinatologist measured both of them in detail and confirmed baby girl got less amnio, is measuring less, weighing 3 oz less than the boy. They did check baby's heart, stomach, kidneys and chord all seem to be perfect:) They found water in stomach & kidneys which was a good sign. But now they are not sure of the reason for less fluids & weight. Both babies seemed to be equally active though!!

They collected my blood for CF carrier test and suggested us to think about Amniocentesis too. am still waiting for the test results, hoping to avoid Amniocentesis:( My next U/S is in 15 days, hoping girl baby would catch up with her twin brother:)

Did anyone face such situations? Hoping to hear something..

HI!!! and CONGRATULATIONS on your twins!! I just cannot tell you enough how awesome having a set is!!! just wait until you see those sweet little faces oh my goodness there is nothing like it!

My girls are fraternal. My girls always measured different. At 28 weeks my girls had a 2 week difference and it was found that baby A had a low fluid level. My MFM put me on bedrest and told me to eat and drink often- scared the you know what out of me. I also drank Boost shakes. At that point I went to the dr twice a week for ultrasounds. My girls made it to 38 weeks 4 days and were baby A 6.9 and B was 6.8 pounds. So baby A actually was actually born without much difference from B and even a tiny bit heavier. The fluid level never improved BUT it did not get much worse so they kept a close eye on us. NOW that she eats and drinks for herself she is a tiny girl (2 1/2 and weighs 20 pounds Ava weighs nearly 24) . Fraternal twins are no more alike than any other two siblings born on different days I think Addison (baby A) was just a smaller baby. Your dr will monitor you well but keep in mind that they are fraternal and your daughter may just be smaller than your son.

The babies will probably always measure differnt. 3 oz is nothing as far as a weight difference is concerned. My peri said even with identical twins, theres always a weight difference. My twin boys are fraternal and have never once measured the same. Last Thursday Baby A measured 3lb 11oz & Baby B measured 4lbs 6oz...both are doing and growing great and are within normal limits. Good luck and keep us posted!!

At my 20 week US with fraternal boy/girl twins, my girl was also measuring behind. Not by much, but enough to where I had an US at almost every appointment up until I delivered at 38 weeks! I didn't have a fluid issue nor did I have an amnio. Both babies were looking (and are) totally healthy. In fact, when I delivered, my doc was surprised how small baby b actually was because on the US it didn't look that different. My boy weighed 7 pounds and my girl weighed 5 pounds. So, pretty large difference pound wise, but no issues and no NICU. I am sure yours are fine! Try not to google too much... I did that during my pregnancy and freaked myself out countless times!!! Good luck!

I had no problems with my pregnancy until I was 30 weeks. I went in for a regular appt and the tech noticed that Baby A had very low fluid. (Really low- she asked me if I had been leaking!) The doc put me in the hospital overnight and sent me to a peri the next day. The peri did not see anything strange on the u/s and the fluid had gotten better...so he put me on modified bedrest and told me to drink plenty of water. At 32 weeks we noticed Baby A was not as big and was not growing as much as Baby B. But, the doc wanted to wait to see if she would grow. At 34 weeks, Baby A's fluid was really low again, and I had preeclampsia. Baby A was still measuring small...

I was induced at 34 weeks 6 days after spending two days in the hospital. I had steriod shots to help the babies lungs. When they were delivered Baby A weighed 5 lbs 5 oz and Baby B weighed 5 lbs 15 oz - I was shocked that Baby A weighed so much because we thought she was only around 4 lbs! They had nothing wrong with their lungs and only had to go to the NICU to learn to eat!

I don't think 3 oz is much at all. And if you are getting u/s frequently and the doctor is monitoring you, you should be fine! I had u/s twice a week after I was 30 weeks. I can't remember how much the weights can vary - I think they can be up to 12 oz off? Ask your tech about that. Once the babies get bigger, it is more difficult to measure them since the tech sometimes has to look around one baby to find the other!

Hope that helps! Hope your pregnancy continues to go well!

Yeah this sounds very encouraging..At 21 st week babies were weighing less than a pound. Boy weighed 15 oz and girl 12 oz, though girl is not really weighing very low, Doc just want to monitor closely, just to be safe.
Glad to hear all these success stories. Am very much relieved today (yeah stopped googling).
