This week makes my 6th week of hospital bedrest....I feel like I'm going crazy sometimes!!!!! I have given up on any chances of going home, even though docs say I MAY be able to go home at 32 weeks.......they said that a month ago too!!! But I figure I'm in the safest place I can be and I'm keeping babies cooking!!! Since I've been in here I've had to have a few terbutaline shots (the latest one last night), 2 IV's just for dehydration, the steriod shots and a 24 hr urine and blood test. Over the past week or two my BP has started 'creeping up' all of the tests came back negative and I have to pee in a cup at every shift change so they can dip it to make sure it's still negative. I had a US today and my cervix is at 1.3cm and I'm 1cm dialtated.....when I came in at 24 weeks it was at 1.8cm and hadn't changed much up until two weeks ago when it was at 1.4cm. The doctors say they are not going to increase or change any medications right now because I am not having any contractions, but if I do they will change something.....so from that I figure I won't be going home next week. Both babies are stil head down, as they have been the whole time, I'm hoping they stay that way because I really want to do a vaginal delivery (even though lots of people think I'm crazy!!). Of course I know with them keeping an eye on my BP I may not be able to do so, but I'm still hoping I'll be able to. The doctors already asked what my preference was and I told them and they said as long as the babies stay head down and my BP is fine I will be able to. They said they would advise me to do the c-sec if they thought the babies or myself was in danger...so I'm praying that we all stay healthy and I'm able to do it vaginally! I was able to have a baby shower last week here in the hospital so that was different and exciting....we got a lot fo stuff we needed and DH said the nursery should be completed by next week!!! I can't wait to see pics!!!! YES I do have DH fixing the nursery by himself!!! We got nothing done before I came in the hospital, we had just moved to our new place 2 days before!!!

Anyway just wanted to give an update since I haven't posted in a while. I hope everyone else out there in 'bedrest world' is doing okay and cooking babies!!!!!
Good luck to all of you!!!! :grouphug:

Your story is very similar to mine. except that my Dr. wants me to remain in hospital until week 34 minimum for expected delivery. It is believed that if babies are premature a c-section of safer. but if they reach their full term and if both have heads down then a normal vaginal delivery might be ok depending on the dilatation. that's the info gathered during my stay in hospital.

Good luck to you. Complete bed rest is tough but try to distract yourself so that days pass without counting them.

    Keep us posted.

You have done such an amazing thing, I hope for many more weeks for you!!! :) BTW, I went into the hospital at 20 weeks and they kept acting like they'd send me home in a week. 11 weeks later they finally discharged me, after I'd given birth of course!

 YOu are doing a fabulous job!! Hospital bedrest is incredibly hard, but it sounds like you are in good spirits and hanging in there! Glad to hear that they are keeping a close eye on you, and you are right you are in the best place. That is awesome that your DH is getting the nursery all fixed up for you!! Yay for having a fun baby shower as well!! I hope that you are able to get the birth that you want, but most of all I hope you and your babies are all healthy! Keep up the good work!!

I hope your hubby does a better job on the nursery than mine. MY DH doesn't understand why we have to paint, or reorginze or anything... LOL

I'm so glad to hear that they are staying put for now.

    Hi there,

This is me trying to give you advices above. at 4 weeks of hospital bedrest I feel like short of breath already when I eat food... besides complete bedrest is incredibly boring...my Dr. told me that he wants me to stay hopefully until week 36 or so. sometimes I feel bad nagging that way and that I should thank God for the double blessing he's giving us after almost 10 years of marriage and all the disappointment we have been through in having babies. but I guess I will keep on thinking positively, I am sure all this will be forgotten once I hold my boys in my arms. I can't wait.....

I send you my sincere understanding though  . Despite everything, I guess that we should try hard to remain positive.
