    So Ladies,

One of my little ones has started solids and is a food champ, the other looks at the food like it's an alien life form and clenchs his mouth shut!! The one on solids loves it all Bananas, Pears, Peaches, Squash, Apples (especially Apples), Peas... there really is nothing he wont try now. His cute little mouth opens like a little bird and he cries if I can't feed him fast enough. He will literally go through a Stage 1 jar of food at his feeding and sometimes will scream for more when it's all gone (that when i give him a little pedilyte to help crush the cravings). BTW: He's 4 1/2 months (almost 5: 4 months adjusted)

The question is he now won't poop. At least I don't see anything while poor little Noah is trying his hardest to poop. He grunts and strains till I swear his eyes are going to pop out and his face is beet red. He now cries when he passes gas (I can tell it's really hurting him now). He hasn't had a good bowel movement in probably 4 days. The most I have seen from him is a little hamster size pellet in his diaper and that was after a good 5 minutes of grunting.. :(

Do you ladies have any recommendations to help get his little system back in sync? Should I try giving him prunes to eat? I'm at a loss and I know little Noah would do anything right now to have a good poop.

Is he eating cereal as well? Because rice will bind him, as well as bananas and applesauce. Try giving him prunes or pears, that should help move things along. My girls have prunes for 'dessert' every night after their dinner just to make sure they dont get bound up. I also dont give them rice anymore, they have oatmeal instead and I am thinking about trying barley.

    Good luck!!

The cereal & bananas will stop him right up! We tried prunes, but they didn't work too well. We had to use baby suppositories. Good luck.

Prunes, prune juice, and oatmeal instead of rice cereal all helped for us.

My Maddie has the same problem - since day 1 that I gave her solids. She now drinks 2oz - 4oz a day as a routine of Gerber Apple/Prune Juice. Since she didn't like prunes by themselves, she seems to really enjoy the combination of apple and prunes. Try it - as long as Maddie drinks her juice everyday - we don't have any problems w/ her pooping.

Ditto! Every time we give bananas for breakfast, I always give prunes or oatmeal mixed with prune juice for dinner, makes for a nice morning poop!! And we have totally ditched the rice cereal now in favor of oatmeal, tastes better and causes less constipation.
