Hey all! I'm new here! First time mom, and expecting twins!
I am sure everyone's experiences are different, but I was wondering if you had more nausea or exhaustion due to carrying twins. I didn't start getting sick until about week 9. But I have been very much so since then.

Hoping there is a light at the end of the tunnel?! Think carrying doubles doubles the symptoms?

    Hi and welcome!
My experience was that twins made me sicker. This is my 6th pregnancy and the worst nausea I've had. I think I was more tired, too. However, the length of the nausea wasn't much different...might have lasted a little longer. By 14 I don't think I was all better yet. Give it a few more weeks....hope you feel good again soon!

:welcome: to TS!!!!! And congratulations on your twins!

Get some Sea Bands and ginger hard candies! Thats what got me through ... When it got really bad then I took Phenegran.

I too am a first time mom. My OB told me to expect everything to be worse than it would have been in a normal pregnancy, well i had never been pregnant before so i didnt know really what to expect, lol. My morning sickness didn't happen till week 9, I had a bit of a break at the middle of 2nd trimester and then unfortunately it came back with a vengeance in the 3rd. It was more nausea than vomiting and that is where the bands and ginger really helped!!!

You can get the sea bands at CVS or Walgreens and I got the ginger candy at World Market.

Thank you so much! I will definitely try the ginger and sea bands. Glad to know that twins can cause more symptoms. I was definitely wondering about that. Congrats to you both as well!!

    Congrats and welcome to TS!!

I had bad morning sickness with all my kids, my twins were no worse, but it's definitely possible to have double the symptoms, the hormones that cause morning sickness are higher in a multiple pregnancy ;)

I had to get phenergan with 2 of my pregnancies and it helped tremendously! :)

My nausea couldn't really be worse with my twins than with my singleton because I felt sick all day every day as it was. It started a little earlier with the twins but that was about it - I don't think it ended later. If it is inhibiting your life/ability to keep up your intake of food or water, you can get a prescription for Zofran.

I was really tired with the twins but it didn't seem as bad as with m ODD but I think that's because I had to chase after her and didn't have a choice. Whereas when I was pregnant with her, I didn't have anyone else to take care of except DH. ;)

My nausea and headaches was worse with the twins…I faint when I throw up … so lots of drama and I could never be alone for fear I would crack my head open on my way down… at the time we had marble bathroom floors… ouch :vava:

With the twins, it was better in the beginning as I never threw up until week 11-12 (though i almost did that whole time... many times)… but worse that it lasted until week 17-18… though this is a controversial topic… to wean me off my coffee addiction (probably a contributor to my headaches) my Dr recommended one cup that was half decaf and reg… I found that REALLY helped with the nausea… my Dr wasn’t surprised and told me story from his early days of prescribing coke a cola syrup (I guess they use to sell just the syrup)… I was trying hard not to have to take an Rx … but dehydration was a big concern… I did have to take it 2 xs when I could not hold down water for 24 hrs… I had a BF that had to take her Rx until they day she delivered… poor gurl… but she went on to have another baby… so pregnancy brain/memory is true :pardon:

*I would talk to your Dr before you have any caffeine of course*

Hope it end quick and welcome to TS

Ack! I'm from Dover, FL! (Well originally, I live in Virginia now.)

I had morning sickness the ENTIRE pregnancy. From week 7-13 were the worst, after that it was only occasional during the day, not the entire day. I lived on candied ginger, ginger altoids, and even grated ginger root. The trick for me after the initial 6 weeks or so was to not let my blood sugar drop, which meant more eating, even though I felt sick.

You should look at the TBAMoMs group, they're a lovely bunch of ladies.

Hi, congratulations for your twins and welcome to twinstuff! I was nauseous all the time also, I felt sick since before I found out I was pregnant and it stopped when they took my Twin B out at the C-Section - towards the end Heartburn was added to the nauseous feeling. I wasn't throwing up too much, but I was afraid to eat. I had saltines and candied ginger and toast and carrots, but whatever I ate made me nauseous. I tried to eat little portions about 5-6 times a day, I couldn't have a big meal. Icecream made me feel better while eating it, but I felt nauseous after. Eating a mint candy made me feel better. I tried not to dwell on it and enjoy my pregnancy as a whole. I kept active and I tried to stay hydrated and I learned to live with it.

I hope it's not as bad for you and it stops in the second trimester.

    Good luck with your pregnancy.

It was worse for me than either of my singleton pregnancy. Started sooner, lasted longer, and threw up more. It did end around week 14 for me though, so I hope you start feeling better soon. It's so hard to feel that way! :/

The worst of mine with my twins went away by 14 weeks but I still had daily bouts until about 20 weeks. After that, I often had true morning sickness due to low blood sugar and would feel nauseated and gag until I ate breakfast. With my singleton it started at 6.5 weeks and was gone by 9 weeks. It was definitely worse with the twins!

I have 6 kids and and was much sicker with my girls than boys. My twins are girls and my oldest is. I usually had fairly nasty MS from about 8 weeks to about 16, then it started letting up and was pretty much gone by 19-20 weeks... at which time the heartburn set in (also worse with my girls). With my boys I was mostly just really nauseated but not actually throwing up very much. And with my last (a boy), I didn't have morning sickness... it was afternoon and nighttime sickness. I'd actually wake up feeling ok, but by lunch I was getting queasy and could hardly think of anything else but throwing up by bed... but I only actually did a couple times.
