Okay ladies I am still a touch emotional about weaning but I do think we are ready... so maybe you should all expect several posts from me today!! :D Here is a pic of our naptime nursing today, and possibly one of our last sessions ever. We will nurse again this afternoon and try nighttime with no boob! The slept all night without the slightest wimper lastnight and they went down without nursing!! Then we will just see what tomorrow brings us! If they are really cranky I will nurse, but if they go through the day and dont even notice then I wont.

There are several reasons I WANT to wean and alot of reasons why I dont too...

    TO WEAN
    1. FREEDOM for DH and I to spend a night away from our kids.
    2. In talks of TTC again and I want a little time with "MY body" again!
    3. The babies seem very "cranky" with me alot of the time and noone else? (anyone KWIM?) Like if I am not feeding them then I am no good to them. (hope that made sense)
    4. The babies really seem ready (or indiffernt anyway)
    5. I want to loose that last 10ish pounds I know I am "hanging on to" because we are still nursing.

    NOT TO WEAN
    1. I want to keep eating like a garbage disposal and still maintain my weight!!
    2. I will miss it terribly and this means my babies are really growing up!! :)
    3. The babies nap very well after a nursing... then again we have never tried naps w/out nursing either.

Either way I met my goal of 12mnths and I am SO PROUD of myself and consider us a "success story" I love this board of women and I wouldnt have made it w/out all ya all!! ;) Anyway I may post all day today and tomorrow just to write and work out all my emotions!! THanks for letting me do so!!

Sounds bittersweet. A years worth of bf is so awesome. I had never really set a goal for myself, But I had always hoped to make it a year.

And BIG congrats on a year of nursing! :yahoo: ENJOY having your body back, mama (even if you don't get to eat that extra 1000 calories per day ;) ).

Oh yeah!! That was suppossed to be added to my list of 'reasons to keep nursing' ... I am terrified I will "give myself permission" to smoke... I GOTTA have my will power!! Send good vibes my way for that!

What a special moment captured by that photo! When did they stop using the EZ 2 Nurse pillow? Or other pillows? Just curious. :)

I used that friggin pillow ONCE and I am the only person on the planet with twins that hated it! :p So I have been nursing like that for the last year, when they were really small I held them in the football hold, but since about 3 months this is how we have been nursing everyday!! I wish I would have taken some more pics when they were smaller, but honestly we didnt think about it.

Thanks for sharing the pic, it is precious!!! Now remember a few things:
-if there are a few times in the next few days/weeks where you need to nurse don't look at it as a setback
-if you get uncomfortable just pump enough to relieve the pain
-you are AWESOME for making it to 1 year WTG momma!!!!!

What a beautiful picture! Congrats to you! I only breastfed my twins for 1 month! I was never really able to get the hang of it. But now I've been sucessfully breastfeeding my daughter for almost 1 year. Cheers!

The moment I found out I was pregnant I stubbed out my last cigarette - 2 1/2 years ago. I'd tried to quit several times over the course of too many years smoking and had even suceeded before for spells of 2 years and a few 6 month times. This time it was so so easy, knowing I was doing it for the girls. The way I figure it, my being given one more chance to give up smoking and it being easy was a gift from the girls to me. Me staying quit so that I'm around longer for them in the future is my gift back to them...

good luck with the weaning, the TTC and the staying quit!

(Oh and I know that if I even have one tiny smoke, that's it, sooner or later I'll be back to smoking... it's happened too often in the past)

way to go, briana!!!!! what a celebration to make it 12 months. you are a success story indeed!!! i can't imagine how bittersweet it must be. i am already thinking of how hard it will be to have a final session one day. who knew something so difficult & time consuming could become so wonderfully rewarding!!!

keep us posted on the process...i'm sure i'll be asking questions in another 3 months as we start weaning. until then, we are all proud of you!!!!

I Know, I have been reminicing about the whole experience and remembering how badly I wanted to throw in the towel at 3 mnths. And even though I am sad now, how glad I am I hung in there, and how surprized I am that it actually became "fun"! Such sweet memories I will always have of my girls tandum nursing. And this is def. an experience I dont share with everyone I know (except you guys ;) ) I am so super proud of myself!

You have done great! MY goal is one year and I'm pretty sure I'll be ready by then too. It's funny how attached we get to something that was so hard to start! CONGRATS on being such an amazing mom.

I loved the picture. I nurse and also tandem feed and just love it. I hate the thought of my babies growing up and weaning them. (These are also our last children.) Anyway, it's so neat to see people (on this board) who feel the same way about something (nursing)!!

    Thanks,
    Lisa

Just wanted to thank you for sharing your pic! I'm in the process of weaning my boys, we are down to 1x/day in the morning when they wake up, so I totally understand how you feel. It definately is bittersweet.

Congratulations on going so far!
