    Hello ladies,
I am Carri wife to Mark and Momma to eight beautiful children.
We are due any day now with TWINS!
We just found out we are having twins last week May 19th.
We birth unassisted but thru my Dh checking me
I was having high BP so we went to a midwife on the 19th and had her
check me and there are two in there!
We saw her and her assistant again yesterday to only confirm again that
yes indeed we are having twins.
We heard both heartbeats and they both palpated me to locate how they are in there..
We are so excited yet not enough time to educate myself on twins.
    So I found you guys!
Hoping for some wisdom and gleam from the forum what you all have learned.
We are still planning a homebirth and the midwives will be there for us.
I am 39 weeks and have 6 days to go for EDD. Any day now!!
It has been a whirl wind week for my family but a blessed one at that~
Hope to know you all well soon!

I found it later in my pregnancy, but barely a day goes by when I don't check in for some advice, wisdom and friendship. I'm very excited to hear your birth story and see pictures. Holy cow, what a surprise at 39 weeks! You have been very blessed with such a routine twin pregnancy, and to have made it to 39 weeks already.

    Good luck with the homebirth!

Now that you can look back over your pregnancy, did you have any signs or thoughts that it might be more than one? I mean did you ever notice hick-ups in two different places? I remember thinking that would have been my only give away to it being twins...other than being huge.

WOW! congrats on the twins.

Does that mean you have not received any prenatal care for this pregnancy?

Thank you for the welcome and congrats ladies,
This pregnancy has been different from day one.
M/S was alot harder this round than ever before.
My hormone levels were Very high
I gained more weight than I ever have
I would more movements in my tummy like popcorn than I ever noticed or remembered before
    I got High BP
I got this rash in third trimester that only effects the arms and legs
I got carple tunnel in my hand..
    I am HUGE
last measuring which was Wednesday I was 54 cm
the pressure is so heavy now I do not rememebr it being this bad
With our doppler hearing two heartbeats and not echos.
so all those things led us into having me palpated by a midwife to confirm our thought.
We have birthed at home 6 children the last two of our children were unassisted b/c our midwife had retired
and we felt comfortable to do it. My DH would do my monthly check ups and monitor me and I take very well care of
myself I do the Tom Brewer Diet and take herbas and prenatals.
    We watch my growth carefully.
I am not against Dr or Hospital at all I am thankful it is there if we need it.
But there have not been any signs to alert us or the midwife that we need to go that route.

    I am a homeschool mom
I cloth diaper and like to make my own
    I am a christian
I am a mom to eight
I like to wear my babies ..with twins that will be fun to learn!
    I like to garden
we have chickens ducks two dogs and two cats
    We live in Indiana
My DH is in school for RN degree
    My children do 4-H
We like to sign and love the signing time dvds
We like to camp and canoe
I like to read books that I learn things from
    I like to do canning
    I like to cook
    I like to sew
    I enjoy taking pictures
I am a fast birther thus far...
20 minutes the fastest and 5 hours the longest
I am praying the Lord will bless mybody again with a fast
    pain free peaceful birth
I wear dresses only and so do my girls
well that is all I think of to share about me..
    I think I answered everyone's questions...
I am so glad to be here ladies!

Didn't the high bp and more weight gain make you want to go in? Not because it may be twins, but because it could have been dangerous?

I hope you aren't feeling overwhelmed by our questions. You just have a very interesting story. Not really the "norm!" Wow, I would love to have a fairly quick labor. What made you decide to do home births? Were your first ones born in the hospital? Will this be an assisted birth?

Any guesses on the sex of the babies? How many weeks did you carry your other children to?

Wow Congrats! You hear stories about how women used to not know they were having twins until they were born - that was very common and normal. I always thought about what a crazy shock that would be! Best of luck in your delivery and welcome to TS.

That's very true about it once being common and normal! I wonder how often it actually happens still?

    No not at all...

You just have a very interesting story. Not really the "norm!"

I understand. Iam used to that with the types of births I have had as well..
I am not of the norm when it comes to having babies! :)
My first two were hospital all natural never had an episiotomy etc..
    The first 5 hours
    the second 4 hours
the third born at home unplanned..born in twenty minutes
The fourth planned homebirth with midwife
broke my water but no labor..after a few hours we transferred and they gave me pic to start labor
    had her in 4 hours
the fifth planned homebirth water birth with midwife..
Had him in two hours midwife did not make it
the sixth planned waterbirth with midwife had him in 1 1/2 midwife did not make it
the seventh midwife retired so we went on our own unassisted birth
planned to have land birth (meaning not in water this time b/c DH did not want to spend his time setting the pool than be with me)
She came in thrity minute with me standing on my legs and bending over my bed.
the last birth to this point number eight another planned unassisted birth on land.
She came in thirty minutes as well and I had the same way I had my seventh.
Now I am here with number nine...

Wow, I would love to have a fairly quick labor. What made you decide to do home births?

My DH and I wanted the privite closeness of being able to labor our way and use things like a water birth or no IV's and machines hooked to me or no one telling me how to push and when things like that...after we read and educated ourselves more on birth and babies we felt more stronger at birthing at home.
Were your first ones born in the hospital?

yes, the first two as explained above

Will this be an assisted birth?

Yes, we are not careless parents we monitor me and we saw things not right we had no hesitation to see a midwife or Doctor if need be. THAT is when they are needed.

Any guesses on the sex of the babies?

One is a boy not sure of the other till birth.

How many weeks did you carry your other children to?
I was either three days early or two days late but pretty much on time with EDD

Yes, but I just started getting HBP last week..the very day he saw the reading we called a midwife and saw her the very next day.
Now IF the midwife felt there needed to be more action taken then we would have went to a DR. but we were assured that there were two and to take mag every evening and check BP doing the roll over test daily..
also my diet needed more protien than I was doing b/c of carrying twins..
So once we got home and did all those things BP has went DOWN!!
    Praise the Lord!!
    :D

I'm confused, so I hope you will help me. It sounds like your husband has been monitoring you for the pregnancy. It sounds like you haven't had an ultrasound because you mention they "palpated" you. So can I ask how you know one is a boy? Just curious.

Yes prenantal care is my husband and myself.
we are now using a midwife.
The day we saw our midwife she sent us to get
    a U/S .
That is how we know one is a boy.
I am too far along for the U/S to work.
    They had a hard time.
