For about a week, Tessa has been taking steps on her own; it usually happens late in the afternoon when people are around so she gets a lot of hand-clapping and HOORAY, TESSA!!s....

It varies from 2 to 6 or so stand-alone steps. She gets this incredibly happy looking grin on her face. At the same time, when people are cheering for her, Danielle looks on curiously with what I interpret as a 'what about ME?!" expression (which I'm sure is really just a 'what's all the commotion about, i want to play as well!) In the last couple of days she has taken a few random steps, but mostly she drops down and speed crawls to wherever she wants to go.

Well, last night Dh and i were doing the playing before bathtime thing and - she walked. really walked - about eight or ten steps. And she looked SO proud and happy. DH and i looked at each other; it was so wonderful to actually SHARE one of those moments; and we both teared up. I could't help but think that my babies no longer ARE babies......of course i'm thrilled that they're growing and thriving and developing, but - once they walk, why they're practically in kindergarten and if i blink they'll be leaving for college!
