My guys are IDs but are soooooooooooo different. Noah is all over the place rolly polly who has now started crawling. Luke is kind of all over the place too but he doesn't really try to crawl. He likes to maneuver into sitting and then he butt scoots everywhere. It is so weird. He used to roll only on occasion but he hates being on his tummy so I think he's forgotten how to roll and he doesn't really try to roll from back to front either. I've tried to force the tummy time so he'll do it but he just gets really mad. He loves pulling to stand and trying to take steps (very unsteady). Anyone else have a butt scooter like this?

 How cute! Some kids just don't crawl, he might be one of those kids! :)

I think it's adorable! I know that's not what you want to hear tho... As far as I'm concerned, butt scooting is considered "crawling". Some kids slither like snakes, some kids butt scoot, some crawl and some just get up and walk.

My DS did not crawl until he was 10.5 months. Before that he did the butt scoot and used to propel himself with his arms but not use his legs at all. DH and I thought he would be one of those kids that never crawled.

Oh yes, don't get me wrong, I think its adorable too. I'm just amazed at how two kids that are so similar just seem to be polar opposites in so many ways...... personality and motor skills. :) I'm glad to hear from everyone that it seems to be pretty normal. I'm not too worried about the not crawling thing but it does worry me a little that he doesn't roll. He's caught up in every other way, so I'm thinking its okay. I hope anyways.

My nephew was a total butt scooter! He could really move it that way, too!! So cute to watch. I know that my sister-in-law was concerned about it, as well, but her ped told her it was perfectly normal. He just turned one and is walking like a champ. :) Good luck!

Sounds like he's doing just fine. If he can stand & is already trying to take steps, I wouldn't worry about the crawling. Some babies just never crawl in the traditional way.

My older son was a scooter. At least you can see where he is heading.

That's adorable! I understand totally, we have one that rolls everywhere and one that just kind of jumps everywhere lol It's hard when you see one doing something and the other one not doing it. I'm sure they'll be fine though ;)
